“At 50, Recreational football at Arbroath FC Community trust has given me another chance to keep playing football, improve my fitness and overall wellbeing. The importance is getting everyone at any level and making them a bit better. I enjoy seeing the lads and helping them enjoy their football.” – Men’s Rec attendee “The Arbroath FC Men’s Rec Football has been the perfect group for me to be involved with to help improve my fitness. A great group of lads go along which makes for enjoyable sessions and means we’re well motivated to keep going, week in, week out.” – Men’s Rec attendee

Recreational Walking Football

Walking football is played at walking pace, with players not allowed to run. This includes with the ball or off the ball and includes jogging. You can ‘walk’ as fast as you want and walking as described in the rules is “one foot must be in contact with the ground at all times.”

“I have been playing walking football for a couple of years after I had to unfortunately give up playing regular football for health reasons. The recreational walking football is a great alternative and has allowed me to continue playing the game I love. It has also helped to improve my physical and mental health and is a major highlight in my week. Despite being a lot younger than the average walking football participant, I have been made to feel very welcome in the sessions.” – Walking Football attendee
