Arbroath FC TV Update – Wed 3rd Aug

Arbroath FC TV Update
Last week we published an update that explained that due to the world returning to normal after the pandemic and supporters being able to return to Football Stadiums, that as a consequence the 3pm Live Broadcast Blackout has also returned.
Like many clubs across Scotland, the opportunity to offer a paid PPV for both home and away supporters really boosted the revenue of the Club.
With Covid still very much prevalent in society and some supporters still wary of socialising in large crowd, we are aware of many fans of all ages who are unable to attend Gayfield on matchdays for a variety of reasons, so we are extremely disappointed that we are unable to continue offering this service to the many who rely on it to watch their team.
The SPFL do recognise that this has also been a valuable income stream for clubs and so are continuing discussions with Sky Sports.
We have been very proud of the professional level of Arbroath FC TV and know that fans enjoyed tuning in to watch.
To stream a game does involve a lot of moving parts, and despite the high running costs we are going to continue on a trial basis to offer Arbroath FC TV to overseas supporters.
This will cost £15 per game and the service will be geoblocked meaning that only users outside of the UK will be able to pay and watch.
We shall monitor the uptake over the first few games of the season to ensure that it is financially viable for the Club.
We therefore encourage all overseas fan to sign up and tune in on a matchday to support Arbroath FC TV.
We shall release how to watch this Saturday’s match against Inverness Caledonian Thistle later today.
In addition, we are looking into the possibility of offering our UK supporters just an audio stream, so despite not being able to watch the game that you would get full audio commentary.
We hope to have an update on this to our supporters soon.
Many thanks,
C’mon the Lichties
