Arbroath crashed out of the SPFL Trust Trophy this evening to Dunfermline Athletic.

Arbroath made 6 changes with Cammy Gill, Florent Hoti, Deri Corfe, Daniel Fosu, Kieran Shanks and Kareem Isiaka all coming into the Starting XI with Scott Bitsindou, Scott Allan unavailable and Dylan Tait Cup Tied and Michael McKenna, Bobby Linn, and Derek Gaston dropping to the bench joined by Keaghan Jacobs and Dale Hilson and Scott Stewart.

A strong Dunfermline Athletic side took the lead in the 6th minute through Kyle MacDonald.
Arbroath’s first real chance at goal provided a corner kick but Craig Wighton hit a pass to Matthew Todd after intercepting and Todd finished to make it 0-2 in the 19th minute. Kyle Benedictus makde it 0-3 just 3 minutes later before Todd made it 0-4 in the 36th minute.

Arbroath brought on McKenna, Linn and Jacobs for Fosu, Isiaka and Corfe at the break, but Jacobs was forced off with an injury on the hour mark with Dale Hilson his replacement.

Craig Wighton made it 0-5 with a sweet finish after a well worked move.

Thomas O’Brien pulled one back in the 74th minute at the back post after Mehmet flapped at a Bobby Linn corner.

There were no other goals and Dunfermline Athletic progress to the next round.
