Thomas O’Brien and Danny Denholm

Arbroath Football Club are delighted to announce the signings of Thomas O’Brien and Danny Denholm from Forfar Athletic on 2 year contracts.

Chairman Mike Caird said “Dick and Ian have been working very hard over the past week to get these deals done and it’s fantastic news that they have agreed to join us. These are two highly talented ambitious young footballers and we look forward to seeing them link up with the rest of the Arbroath team over the next two seasons.”

Thomas O’Brien

Thomas moves to Gayfield from Station Park where he was originally signed by our manager Dick Campbell.

On linking up with his former boss Thomas said “It’s great to be back working with the gaffer and Pink however I hope his banter is better! I’m looking forward to next year and helping Arbroath do well “

Thomas can play in defence or midfield and the 25 year old had an incredible season being nominated for the PFA League 2 Player of the Year and also being named in the SPFL League 2 Team of the year whilst also helping Forfar win the League 1 play-off final, scoring 8 goals during the season.

Thomas started his career at Dunfermline Athletic’s Academy before moving to Cowdenbeath in 2003. After spells with Rosyth and Kelty Hearts he made his first team debut at Central Park in 2010. He went on to make just under 100 appearances for Cowdenbeath before signing on at Station Park.

During his two seasons at Station Park, Thomas really flourished and his performances caught the eye of many fans and managers and Lichties can look forward to his seeing his skills at Gayfield very soon.

He scored his first professional goal at Gayfield in a 1-1 draw back in October 2011 for Cowdenbeath, let’s hope there are many more to come!

Danny Denholm

Danny joins us after three very successful seasons at Station Park and again is reunited with his former manager Dick Campbell.

It has been an incredible season for Danny as he was named in the SPFL Team of the Year after netting 14 goals which helped Forfar win the League 1 play-off final.

The 26 year old started his career coming through the youth ranks of his home town side Edinburgh City before moving Stirling University where he won the East of Scotland Football League.

He sealed a move to Forfar in the 2012 / 2013 season scoring 10 goals in 32 appearances. In the 2013-2014 season Danny was offered full time football and moved to Livingston where he made 31 appearances before returning back to Station Park in July 2015 where he has continued to star for Forfar and regularly getting on the score sheet.

Thomas and Danny are both players that will excite the supporters and become instant Lichtie favourites.

We would like to welcome both Thomas and Danny to Gayfield!
