Arbroath FC are delighted to announce the signing of 31-year-old attacking midfielder Ryan Dow from Peterhead on an 18-month contract.

Ryan, who was born in Dundee won the Scottish Schools Shield with Harris Academy in 2005 and initially started his career at Dens Park but joined city rivals Dundee United in 2005, signing a professional contract in June 2007.

Whilst at Tannadice, Ryan had a loan spell under Dick Campbell at Forfar Athletic making 12 appearances and scoring 3 goals.  When Ryan returned to Dundee United he became a stalwart making 112 appearances and scoring 13 goals before signing for Ross County in September 2016.

During his time in the Highlands, Ryan had a successful loan spell at Peterhead during season 2018/2019.  He was part of the side that won the League 2 title and made 32 appearances and scored 5 goals.

Ryan left Ross County after making 54 appearances to move to Dunfermline Athletic where he would spend the next 3 seasons.

Many Arbroath Supporters will be fully aware of Ryan’s talent and skill as we came up against him in our battles against the Pars.  Ryan scored against Arbroath in November 2020 at Gayfield in the Betfred Cup.

Ryan left East End Park in the summer after 81 appearances and 12 goals making the switch to Peterhead, where he worked under his Father-in-law Jim McInally.  In his two spells at Peterhead Ryan has made 50 appearances, including 18 this season in League One.

With experience from League One, the Scottish Championship, the Scottish Premiership and a versatility to play in midfield, on the wing or up front we are excited to see Ryan in action for Arbroath.

Welcome to the club!
