Arbroath FC supporters will have the chance to represent The Red Lichties as our first ever E-sport players following an announcement of The eRena Sports eScottish Football Cup at Hampden Park in May.

The competition offers 2 EA SPORTS™ FIFA/ Arbroath FC fans a chance to win silverware for the Club, with registration now open to players aged 16 and over to represent the team.

The coveted two players will participate on Sunday 21st May 2023 at the home of Scottish football – Hampden Park where the two best players from all other entrants of Scottish League clubs will compete to find out which club will be named E-Scottish Cup Champions.

To qualify to play FIFA for Arbroath, you need to be 16 or older and players will use their personal FIFA 23 Ultimate Team against rivals, facing a pure knockout tournament.

1. Players will use a Classic FIFA 23 team from Kick-Off mode, again facing a pure knockout tournament. Consoles and controllers will be provided for these players.

The two winners who qualify to represent Arbroath at the eScottish Football Cup will be gifted an Arbroath shirt each and must be available to play on the 21st May at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Please do not enter if you are unavailable on this date.

To be in with a chance of playing for Arbroath please email paul@arbroathfc.co.uk an application letter, providing FIFA prowess, team and your reasons “why you should be picked.” Players are encouraged to send in their Division Rank, FUT23 Ultimate Team Squad, any past tournament wins / finishes to prove prowess on your application.

Applications should be sent to the club no later than this Sunday and both successful applicants will be informed by Monday.

The FUT23 Players must own a Next-Gen Console(PS5 or Xbox Series X).

About the trial tournament:

A 32 Player tournament, over a half day to select the best FIFA23 UT player and best FIFA23 Classic player (plus reserve).

16 players will use their personal FIFA 23 Ultimate Team against their rivals and will face a pure knockout tournament. These players will have a single console, screen and desk. These players must bring their own next gen console and controller to Gayfield.

16 players will use a Classic FIFA 23 team from Kick- Off mode and will face a pure knockout tournament. These players will be split screen, sharing a Screen, desk and console.

MAIN SCOTTISH CUP TOURNAMENT DETAILS ON 21 MAY 2023

Tournament Scoring Method the result of each match will be based on the aggregate scores for both players representing their Club. For example: Team A FUT v Team B FUT – this match results – a 3-2 victory for Team A FUT. Team A Kick Off v Team B Kick Off – this match results – a 1-4 victory for Team B Kick Off. The scores are aggregated: Team A (3+1 = 4) v Team B (2+4 = 6) = 4-6 Team B wins the tie.

Clubs will be awarded: 3 points for a win 1 point for a draw 0 points for a loss In the event of a tie, Goal Difference will be used to separate teams. If Goal Difference cannot separate teams, Goals For will be used to separate teams.

Clubs will be drawn into random groups and a group table will be created within these groups for Saturday’s Round Robin. From these groups, 32 teams will advance onto Sunday’s Knockout Finals.

The Knockout Finals will use the same aggregate scoring method, but instead of a group table being used, the winning Club from the tie advances onwards to the next Knockout stage, whereas the losing Club is eliminated from the Competition. In the event of a tie score during the Knockout Finals Ro32, Ro16 and Quarter Finals – Kick Off Players will begin a new match and play Golden Goal to determine the winner. At these stages, both FUT and Kick Off matches will be played simultaneously.

In the event of a tie score during the Knockout Finals Semi Finals and Finals – ET and Penalties will be used on Kick Off. At these stages, matches will be played FUT first, then Kick Off, hence the opportunity to use ET and penalties. Clubs will be drawn into unseeded groups for Saturday’s Round Robin. From these groups, 32 teams will advance into Sunday’s Knockout Finals.

The Knockout Finals will consist of: Ro32 Ro16 Quarter Finals Semi Finals Final using the same aggregate scoring method and the winning Club from the tie will advance to the next round. In the event of a tie score during the Ro32, Ro16 and Quarter Finals, Kick Off Players will begin a new match and play Golden Goal to determine the winner. In the event of a tie score during the Semi Finals and Final, ET and Penalties will be used on Kick Off to determine the winner.

FIFA 23 Ultimate Team Rules All matches will use the retail version of FIFA 23 Ultimate Team Friendly Seasons Game Mode and the default settings of the mode will be enforced automatically, including difficulty level. Half Length – 6mins, no ET or penalties in the event of a draw.

No Training Items are allowed. A max of 3 Icon or Hero Cards. All starting players must have a minimum of 1 chemistry. A max of 4 90 – 94 rated non-icon players. All other players must be 89 rated or lower. All FUT23 Players must use default FUT Stadium, with no Goal Net, Pitch Line or Pitch Mow modifiers active.

Players must have one light kit and one dark kit and must agree to kit selection before play. All players must have their squads checked prior to each game round by eRena staff. Players must use a retail controller, without any modifications or software that would give them an advantage.

All disputes must by highlighted to eRena staff without delay. Anyone found to be abusive, threatening or intentionally disrupting other players will be disqualified. In the event of a disconnection, a new game will be started, with an implied time and score imposed on the new match, e.g. disconnection occurs at 3-1 in the 45th min, another 45mins to be played, with an implied score of 3-1.

Players will have a total time of 5mins to connect with opponent, set up team and tactics. Play must begin after 5mins, regardless of ready state. 3 pauses max per player, if any player found to be intentionally disrupting opponent with pauses, a warning will be given in the first instance, with a disqualification applied for repeat offenders.

FIFA 23 Classic Rules All matches will use the retail version of FIFA 23 Kick Off Game Mode and the default settings of the mode will be enforced by eRena Staff. Xbox Consoles will be used on all Kick Off Games to ensure an even playing field for all competitiors. Half Length – 6mins, no ET or penalties in the event of a draw. Players must use Men’s teams only but cannot use Rest of World teams, including All Stars or Soccer Aid. All default FIFA 23 game settings must be used, including camera, HUD, radar colors, gameplay customizations. This will be set up by eRena sports at the start of every match round. Difficulty Level – World Class. Kits must be opposite and agreed by both players prior to play.
