Neil meets the League One trophy

Neil meets the League One trophy

This afternoon we made the short trip up to Dundee to see our friend and videographer Neil Douglas.

Neil’s wife Natasha had told Neil that myself and Louise Walker, Arbroath Operation and Kit Manager were coming up but Neil didn’t know that Arbroath Captain Mark Whatley was also coming along with the Ladbrokes League One Trophy!

Neil was definitely in shock as Mark walked into view with the League One Trophy and Neil was desperate to get his hands on the trophy!

It will be 9 weeks on Saturday since Neil suffered a stroke at Gayfield but in that time Neil has shown great fight and determination in his recovery.

Neil walked through to the lounge with his walking stick under the supervision of a nurse before we sat down and caught up.

Neil was on top form cracking jokes and keeping us all on our toes as we talked about the end of the season, winning the league and life in the Championship next season.

I got one of my photographs printed and got all of the lads to sign it as a small memento for Neil as he couldn’t be at Brechin when we clinched the league.

Neil also got his hands on the The John Christison Community Services Trophy that he was awarded for volunteering his time and services to the club and community.

Neil is still going doing lots of physio and is now onto stair exercises as Natasha will get to welcome him home for weekend visits very soon.

I know Neil will be reading this and so can I please ask you to leave some comments below for Neil to get him to keep that determination up!

It was so good seeing you today! Everyone at the club has been asking for you as has so many other people from other clubs have also sent on their well wishes!

Neil has promised he will be in the stands in the opening day of the season and we are holding you to that!

Keep fighting Neil!
