Message to Supporters

The Club would like to thank all of the Supporters who came to Gayfield on Saturday to watch the local Derby match against Dundee FC. It was absolutely fantastic to see over 5,500 Fans inside the Stadium. The atmosphere was incredible with both sets of Supporters really getting behind their Teams.

The overwhelming majority of Supporters from both sides were also extremely well behaved and the Club would like to acknowledge the patience shown by Supporters when kick off was delayed for a few minutes.

This was simply to ensure that all Supporters could access the stadium safely and prevent any unnecessary crowding around the Turnstile areas.

Unfortunately there was a very small minority of Arbroath FC Supporters who stupidly decided to discharge Pyrotechnics within the Stadium just before the game kicked off.

This caused significant concern amongst Home Supporters who were in close proximity to where the Pyrotechnics were discharged and indeed First Aid staff had to treat a small number of young Supporters for minor injuries caused by one of these devices.

The Club is continuing to review CCTV footage from the game as well as information that has been passed on and progress is being made in identifying those responsible, who when identified, will be banned from returning to Gayfield.

The Club is also linking in with Police Scotland who are aware of the incidents.

The Club has previously warned Spectators not to bring Pyrotechnics into the Stadium because of the potential for serious injury to be caused when they are discharged.

What happened at Saturday’s game should be a clear reminder of the dangers of these devices and the Club Board will not hesitate to firmly deal with any Supporters who ignore this warning.

The message to anyone who may still contemplate bringing Pryotechnics to Gayfield is ‘ Come along and support the Team but do so without the need to discharge these very dangerous devices. It is not clever and it is highly irresponsible to do so.’

The Club will continue to review our Matchday Operations to ensure that everyone attending Gayfield can enjoy the Football in a safe and family friendly environment.

Thank you

C’mon the Lichties
