Kerr Waddell / John McGlashan Shirt Auction – Update

On Saturday John McGlashan’s wife Dawn, and John’s Sister-in-law Kimberley were presented with Kerr Waddell’s Arbroath Shirt by Arbroath Chairman Mike Caird.

Unfortunately Kerr couldn’t make it to Gayfield on Saturday as he was involved in the Dundee Squad.

The Arbroath shirt was gifted to Kerr by John when he signed his first professional contract with Dundee.

We had some wonderful generous supporters who bid for the shirt but the winning bid was from KIKO in Dundee.

KIKO are “Kick It Kick Off” based at Kirkton Community Centre, offering part-time support to primary and secondary pupils attending mainstream school, including evening programmes for children and young people who are ‘looked after’ by Dundee City Council.

John was going to be joining KIKO on a sessional basis as Raymond (Jinky) Farningham worked with John at “Show Case The Street” and together at Dundee FC. John also played with KIKO staff member’s Alan Black’s amateur football team for a short time.

Everyone at KIKO knew that John was kind, warm and his engaging personality was able to get the best out of young people, would make him a perfect fit at KIKO.

Gus Fotheringham, who is the Learning Centre Manager at KIKO and Jinky won the shirt with a bid of £460 and their wish was to donate the shirt back to Dawn and family.

On top of this amazing act of kindness they also wanted us to re-auction the Boardroom Hospitality for 2 which was snapped up by Richard Grant and his friend Greig Cochrane for £200.

This meant an amazing £660 was raised for Kimberly who is running the Great Women’s 10km Glasgow in memory of John and to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease Scotland which is the only charity in Scotland to support people with motor neurone disease as well as funding vital research to find a cure.

If you would like to help Kimberly, you can still donate by visiting her Justgiving page.

Again we would like to thank Kerr Waddell who was incredibly kind in donating his shirt which held special memories to him and also Gus and Jinky and everyone at KIKO and to Richard for the boardroom auction donation.

Please remember to donate to Kimberly’s page if you can.

Thank you!
