Charity Auction, Plaque Donation and Presentation

Prior to the Inverness Caledonian Thistle game at Gayfield on Saturday, Charlie Wood, an avid Lichtie’s supporter, presented two framed Arbroath FC shirts to Chairman Mike Caird.

The shirts were purchased by Charlie in an online auction, and are signed by Keith Gibson (2010 – 2011) and Gavin Swankie (2018 – 2019) and included in the frames, are the relevant season tickets held by Charlie for these two seasons.

Dave Ramsay also presented two cast aluminium Arbroath heraldic plaques, to Chairman Mike Caird.

The plaques have a long Arbroath connection, and Dave said “As Arbroath FC holds such a prominent place in the Arbroath and Angus Community, it is fitting that they should have a place at Gayfield, particularly given the importance of 2020 being the 700th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath.

After unsuccessful attempts to discover the origins of the plaques and their location in Arbroath, Dave decided that a fitting home for them would be at Gayfield.

Terry Wood and fellow musicians, Ken White, Neil Campbell and Ian Esplin held a fund raising event at the Meadowbank on the Saturday night, and Dave provided a charity auction as part of the evening.

Chairman of Arbroath FC, Mike Caird presented Dave with bottles of vodka and gin generously donated by Arbikie Distillery

They were signed by Dick Campbell, manager of Arbroath FC to aid the fund raising event for Dalhousie Day Care, (Comfort Fund) Brechin, and the Scottish Ambulance Service. Prior to a final balance, the charity event realised just under £1,000.

Mike Caird also presented Dave with a Boardroom Hospitality voucher for two people for the charity auction, and the same generous offer from Arbroath FC raised £160 at a similar event last year.

Mike said “Arbroath Football Club prides itself on being a community club, and providing support for local charities and events, and we are delighted to to offer two Boardroom places for this worthwhile charity auction.”

Thank you again to Charlie and Dave!
