Arbroath FC – Ladbrokes Scottish League One Champions 2018/2019

Arbroath FC lifted the Ladbrokes League One Trophy on Saturday after the full time whistle blew.

An incredible afternoon with a celebratory feel started off with the appearance of Smokie Joe who took the social media world by storm.

As two pipers took to the pitch Arbroath were given a guard of honour by Dumbarton FC as Manager Dick Campbell led out his Arbroath team for the final game of the season.

The game itself came to life in the second half when Calum Gallagher scored after a well worked move by Dumbarton in the 54th minute, however just 8 minutes later Dumbarton defender Cameron Ballantyne made the save of the season as he denied Ryan McCord.

Despite his claims that he headed the ball, the red card was inevitable which allowed Michael McKenna to place the ball on the spot and equalise – although Brennan was unlucky as he managed to get a glove to the ball, both sides created chances but the game ended 1-1.

Dozens of fans ran onto the pitch before a platform was erected and the players were then called out to pick up their League Winners Medals before celebrating as Captain Mark Whatley lifted the League One Trophy!

What a day!

C’mon the Lichties!
