Irn-Bru Cup – Round 3 – Season 2018 / 2019

Friday 12th October 2018, Gayfield Park, Arbroath – 7.35pm kick off

We welcome Edinburgh City and the Cameras and Crew of BBC ALBA to Gayfield this evening for our 3rd round match in the Irn-Bru Cup.

We feel honoured to have been chosen to be live on BBC ALBA this evening and we hope it is a chance for those who can’t normally travel to Gayfield to watch the Lichties live.

It is the first visit to Gayfield of Edinburgh City since the 2016 / 2017 season and the side from the Capital have had a sensational start to the season as the currently lead the way in Ladbrokes League 2 having won 8 games, lost 1 game, scored 18 goals and only conceded 3 goals.

There have been several changes at Edinburgh City since we last played each other. A move to Ainslie Park, home of the Spartans whilst Meadowbank Stadium goes major renovation.

Jim Jeffries was appointed Director of Football in February 2017 and Manager James McDonaugh took control of the team in October 2017 where he succeeded Gary Jardine. James has coached the Hibernian Under 19 team and was assistant Manager to Peter Houston at Falkirk and holds an UEFA A Licence, SFA Youth Licence and SFA Advanced Children’s Licence.

There are a few familiar faces in the Edinburgh City line up with former Lichties Brad Donaldson and Keiran Stewart returning to Gayfield with striker Blair Henderson in stunning form with 9 league goals so far this season.

Edinburgh City Team News – from www.edinburghcityfc.com

“The injured trio of Josh Walker, John Dunn and Brad Donaldson remain out of contention, although each of them are stepping up their rehab.”
