Ladbrokes Championship – Game 21 – Season 2020 / 2021

Saturday 20th March 2021, Gayfield Park, Arbroath, 3.00pm kick off

Match Sponsor – Mackie Motors

Arbroath welcome Championship leaders Heart of Midlothian to Gayfield tomorrow for our third and final meeting this season.

With only 7 games remaining for each side, this match is crucial for both sides. Hearts are just a handful of points away from clinching the Championship title whilst Arbroath are fighting for every point as the bottom half of the table remains incredibly close.

The two meetings so far this season have been very close games. In our first home match of the season it took a Craig Wighton goal in the 70th minute to seal the points after some stunning first half saves from Craig Gordon.

The return match at Tynecastle had been a closely fought match, but 3 quick goals from Steven Naismith in a 7 minute spell killed the game, with Kris Doolan’s excellent second half strike just a mere consolation for the Lichties.

Hearts have a few new players in their side since our last meeting including Gary Mackay-Steven, Aaron McEneff, Armand Gnanduillet and Gervane Kastaneer.

Peter Haring misses out as he serves the second match of his two match suspension after his red card against Dundee a fortnight ago whilst striker Liam Boyce is awaiting the birth of a child, so may miss out.

Arbroath will be without Lewis Moore who is ineligible to play against his parent club, with Gavin Swankie and Luke Donnelly also missing due to their long term injuries.

It of course will be an extremely tough match against the best team in the Championship, but we hope you will cheering us on from home.

C’mon the Lichties!
