Arbroath 2 – 2 Hamilton Academical

A 91st minute penalty by Michael McKenna rescued a point for the Lichties which has actually seen our lead at the top of the Championship extend by a point to 5 points.

It wasn’t a classic Arbroath performance, as Daniel O’Reilly opened the scoring from a corner kick in the 25th minute.

Nicky Low levelled from the spot in the 38th minute after Mihai Popescu handled.

But just before the break Andy Ryan gave Hamilton the lead after he tapped in Jamie Hamilton’s cross on the stroke of halftime.

Arbroath just couldn’t find the net, and Hamilton who were having a fine game were proving hard to break down and yet looking dangerous on every counter attack.

The goal finally came, again from the spot as Brian Easton fouled Jack Hamilton in the 91st minute.

Michael McKenna showed nerves of steel to net his 13th goal of the season and rescue a valuable point for the Lichties.

Captain Thomas O’Brien did have to go off at half time after sustaining an ankle knock at half time but substitute Liam Henderson put in an excellent performance in defence.

C’mon the Lichties
