Arbroath and Falkirk will need a 4th round replay to see who makes it into the William Hill Scottish Cup 5th round after the two sides couldn’t be separated at Gayfield this afternoon.

The replay will take place at Falkirk Stadium on Tuesday 28th January with a 7.45pm kick off.

It wasn’t a classic by any means with a long range dipping volley from Thomas O’Brien an easy save for ex Lichtie Robbie Mutch whilst Declan McManus hit a close range header wide in the 14th minute.

Mark Whatley was unlucky once again in front of goal as he just couldn’t get his boot behind the ball after being played in by Luke Donnelly before having a fierce shot blocked.

Michael McKenna curled a 20 yard shot which glazed the roof of the Falkirk net whilst Bobby Linn had a shot blocked after a quick counter attack.

Morgaro Gomis looked the best player for Falkirk and had two shots which flew over the Arbroath bar as the Lichties had the better of the first half.

The second half swung definitely in Falkirk’s favour with Derek Gaston making a crucial save in the 57th minute when he denied Declan McManus from close range.

Substitute David McMillan could have won it for the visitors but the long striker hit a close range header over the bar.

The two times will go again a week on Tuesday.

C’mon the Lichties
