Alloa Athletic vs Arbroath – Match Preview

Betfred Cup – Group A – Game 2 – Season 2018 / 2019

Tuesday 17th July 2018, Indodrill Stadium, 7.45pm kick off

It’s another busy week for the Lichties as they return to action tomorrow night as we travel to Alloa to take on Jim Goodwin’s Alloa Athletic.

We are no strangers to the Wasps having played them 5 times last season, including in this very fixture almost a year to the day, 16th July 2018.

On that evening, a Blair Yule header gave the Lichties the lead but a Frank McKeown last minute goal forced the game into another penalty shoot-out.

Our hero was keeper Ricky Gomes who saved from Kris Renton and Thomas Grant despite suffering a bad knock to the face earlier in the game.

Steven Doris, Mark Whatley, Blair Yule, Kane Hester, Ricky Little and David Gold all scored with Gavin Malin hitting the bar as we triumphed 6-5 on penalties.

Alloa have made many changes during the summer like most clubs as they look forward to their return to the Championship.
