Thank you Ben Williamson

Thank you Ben Williamson
Everyone at Arbroath FC would like to thank midfielder Ben Williamson and his parent club Rangers for Ben’s loan spell at Gayfield which has now come to an end.
Ben joined the Lichties on January 13th and made his Arbroath debut just days later away to Queen of the South.
In that game, Arbroath came back from 2 goals down to secure a 2-2 draw. It was to be the turning point in Arbroath’s season as the team went 8 games undefeated only to succumb to Queen of the South at Gayfield.
There is no coincidence that Ben’s arrival played a big part in this 8 match unbeaten run as Ben started all 17 League matches after arriving from Rangers, with his only substitute appearance coming in the Scottish Cup.
Ben’s energy, enthusiasm and skill in midfield helped the team at both ends of the pitch and Ben showed no fear as he lined up against highly experienced opposition often enjoying the battles with the likes of Charlie Adam and Steven Whittaker.
We were delighted when Ben scored his first senior goal against Ayr United in our emphatic 4-0 win at the end of the season.
Again we are just sad that Ben didn’t get to experienced our supporters as he is the type of players the supporters love to watch and battle for every ball.
Ben leaves Gayfield having made a huge impression on everyone at the club, but also will have won the admiration of several other clubs, and hopefully also the coaching staff at Rangers.
Due to Covid, Ben has had to train on his own during his spell with Arbroath and been away from his Rangers team-mates which is even more remarkable of the performances he put in.
We hope to be watching Ben run out at Ibrox very soon just like Nathan Patterson who has broke into the Rangers first team.
Ben leaves Gayfield having been voted the Arbroath FC Young Player of the Year by the Arbroath fans who recognised his talents.
We would like to thank Ben for his time spent at Gayfield and wish him all the very best for next season.
Thank you Ben!
C’mon the Lichties
