Thank you Arbroath

Thank you Arbroath

As a club, we would like to thank the support of all the residents of Arbroath and to all the kind and compassionate supporters of clubs throughout Scotland and England for their support.

On Saturday evening we were celebrating the incredible generosity and backing we have received for our Supporters Wall on the Champions Lounge.

500 Bricks were sold, and over £52,000 raised to ensure that as a club will be there for all our supporters and the Town of Arbroath as soon as we possibly are legally allowed too.

The joy unfortunately was shattered on Sunday morning as we were made aware of a vandalism streak which left several properties, along with the Arbroath Water Tower, and our good friends at Tutties Neuk Inn all being hit by needless vandalism in a time where it is incredibly hard for all businesses and individuals to survive.

Gayfield Park was also targeted as it was broken into with our pitch and several areas of the concourse and main stand spray painted.

It’s not just the all the hard work that our groundsman Pete Clarke and his team have put into the Gayfield Pitch, but all the hard work which has been going on to try and make Gayfield Park a destination that all supporters enjoy.

The sadness and disappointment that so many areas in our community were vandalised was hard to believe, but even in the darkest times there is a beacon of light.

Within seconds of posting the story to our social media we had direct messages from local skilled tradesmen and businesses offering their skills and trade free of charge to make the repairs and to help with security systems.

Those offers kept coming, not just from Lichties but from all over Scotland.

We always knew that we had a brilliant and supportive Community and some of the best fans in Scotland but the response has been again overwhelming with the kindness, togetherness and can-do-attitude really proving that we are all so resilient and we can get through everything together.

Thank you all again, and we do hope to see you all back at Gayfield very soon.

C’mon the Lichties!
