Robert Douglas

Arbroath Football Club is pleased to announce that former Dundee, Celtic, Leicester City and Scotland goalkeeper Robert Douglas has joined the club as a coach.

Rab of course is well known to Lichties, having been at Gayfield for the past two seasons. He first came to our rescue in the 2016 / 2017 when Aberdeen keeper Robbie Mutch was cup tied, before signing until the end of the season when Dunfermline Athletic recalled Cammy Gill.

His presence and vast experience on the pitch and in the dressing room was welcomed by his team mates as we secured the Ladbrokes League Two Championship.

Rab returned to Gayfield this past season after injury ruled out Ricky Games for a period whilst he recovered from injury. Rab made his Arbroath debut against Queen’s Park in November keeping a clean sheet at the National Stadium.

Towards the end of the season Rab also stepped in for his close friend John Ritchie as he helped coach David Hutton and Ricky Gomes.

With years of experience at national and international level, and having played against some of the World’s very best we know Rab will be a valuable asset to all of the players at the club.

C’mon the Lichties
