Luke Donnelly – Contract Extension and injury update

Arbroath FC are delighted to announce that striker Luke Donnelly has signed a contract extension for another season keeping him at Gayfield until the end of the 2021 / 2022 season.

Luke, 25, signed for Arbroath in January 2019 from Stranraer and in his first season he helped the club clinch the League One Title. Last season in the Championship Luke really hit top form scoring goals against Dunfermline Athletic, Dundee United, Partick Thistle, Alloa Athletic as well as providing countless assists.

Luke’s skill and style of play means he is a handful for any defence he comes up against!

Unfortunately Luke recently suffered an injury at training. The initial outlook seemed that it was a serious injury and it looked like Luke would require surgery and be out for the season.

However the club sent Luke for a scan and the early prognosis is that Luke has strained two of his ligaments in his knee. At this moment in time, and the way the direction his healing process is headed it is thankfully looking like Luke will not require an operation.

Of course, with any injury this could change, but we are all hopeful that the path Luke is on that he will make a full recovery without surgery and will be fit for pre-season in June.

We are all delighted Luke will be back at Gayfield next season.

Arbroath’s recent success has been based on keeping our key players at the club and we are delighted Luke has extended his contract.

C’mon the Lichties!
