James Craigen

Arbroath FC can confirm that our midfielder James Craigen has today left the club.

Arbroath FC would like to thank James for his time at Arbroath Football Club.

James originally signed for Arbroath on loan from AFC Fylde in January 2020 and made his Arbroath debut against Dundee United at Tannadice in our famous win, before also coming off the bench against Queen of the South and Dunfermline Athletic before making his first full appearance in a man of the match performance against Greenock Morton on the 7th March 2020, which was our final match before the season was cut short due to Covid.

James then signed a 3-year deal with Arbroath in the summer in our second season in the Championship, which was only a 27-game season.

In season 2020/21 James made 17 league starts, with another 4 from the bench, with 3 starts and 1 substitute appearance in the BetFred Cup, with a further start in the Scottish Cup.

James scored twice in 3 minutes to help the Lichties to a 2-1 win over Ayr United in the Championship.

In our second place in the Scottish Championship last season James made 18 starts, and 17 from the bench scoring against Queen of the South, Greenock Morton and that goal at Kilmarnock in a 3-game scoring streak. 3 starting appearances also came in the Premier Sports Cup, with a further one from the bench. A start and a substitute appearance in the Scottish Cup, and a substitute role in the SPFL Trust Trophy.

This season James has made 2 starts, with another 3 from the bench in the Premier Sports Cup, and made 4 substitute appearances in the Scottish Championship.

In total James has made 81 appearances for Arbroath (46/35) and scored 5 competitive goals.

Always smiling and a true professional James has been a big player for the Club in his 2 and a half seasons at Gayfield, and will be missed by everyone at the Club.

We wish James all the very best and he will be welcome back at Gayfield anytime.

Thank you Cragsy, and good luck!

C’mon the Lichties
