Greenock Morton 1 – 0 Arbroath

The Lichties winning run came to an end this afternoon at Cappielow as a 3rd minute goal by Reece Lyon was enough to secure all 3 points.

Arbroath made a slow start with James Murphy’s shot the first real test for Danny Rogers late in the first half.

However the second half was much more the level of play that Arbroath fans have become accustom to as Arbroath dominated possession and started to pass the ball around but despite seeing much of the ball failed to trouble Rogers in goal.

There were two huge talking points as Colin Hamilton seemed to be fouled for a penalty kick in the 75th minute with Ricky Little also seemingly being pulled down in injury time but neither were given.

Morton also appealed at the death for a penalty kick of their own as Colin Hamilton dived down low for a header, but Referee Alan Newlands felt the wrath of both sets of supporters.

A disappointing result for the Lichties, but the Championship has again proved just how close all the teams are.

C’mon the Lichties
