Additional Comments:-
A story relating to the late great Albert Henderson my dad in the late seventies bought Steel for Williamson Engineering and one company with whom he dealt with was a company called Watson Towers Bobby Watson was part owner of this company, he was also Airdrie’s manager at the time on occasions he would came down to see my Dad about buying steel some time they would go out for lunch, as Arbroath and Airdrie were at the time in the same league. When Bobby was leaving he would say I can’t Leave Arbroath without ….. Now most people would finish that by saying some smokies, but Bobby ended it with seeing Albert Henderson. Last season I was lucky to attended a hospitality day in which Cammy Murray and Tommy Yule were there Cammy made a speech and talked of Ex –Players who got a cheer, but the biggest cheer was reserved for when he mentioned Albert Henderson perhaps we should erect a statue of Albert Henderson.

BEST EVER ARBROATH TEAM

1 John Lister
2 Steve Florence
3 Derek Rylance
4 Tom Cargill
5 Cammy Murray
6 Andy Fettes
7 Eric Sellars
8 Josh Falkingham
9 Steven Doris
10 Hugh Robertson
11 Tommy Yule

Sub Andy Penman
Manager:- Albert Henderson

Other players I could have picked are as follows Gordon Marshall, Craig Hinchcliffe, Jim Milne, Frank Kopel, Tony Hill, Kevin McMullan, Brian Mitchell, Kevin Tindal, Stewart Forsyth, Billy Gavine, Charlie Adam, Joe Carson, Albert Kidd, Tommy Walker, Jim Cant, Wattie Boyd, John McAulay, Stuart Sorbie, John Fletcher, Jimmy Jack, Denis Bruce, Billy Pirie, Jimmy Bone, Paul Sheerin, John Gallagher, Paul Tosh, Steve Tosh and Lex Richardson to name a few! People will notice that eleven all seem to be from the same era,(1970’s) but in that decade we played three season in the top flight of Scottish Football Steve Doris is picked from our Championship team rather than the currant team. Paul Sheerin came close to being named as manager for what he did in his four seasons with the club, but Albert’s eighteen years at the helm shaded it for me
