TASC TALK - NOVEMBER 2007

HELLO and welcome to the first newsletter of this season and apologies for it’s lateness but, with a hectic set of fixtures in August and a busy September getting time to put finger to keyboard was a bit hard to come by. I will however cram as much as I can in to this one and get the next one out as soon as possible in December!!!!

CHRISTMAS PARTY NIGHT - All members are asked to note Saturday 15th December in their diaries as this will be the night of the Supporters Club Xmas Dance which will be again held at the ever popular (and cheap) Arbroath Bowling Club who have kindly offered us this date. Unfortunately we are away to Albion Rovers that day but hope as many of you will join us from 7.30pm onwards - No need to worry about tea as a large buffet will be included within the price of your ticket along with live music which will be provided by Xtra Sweet who have to be seen to be fully appreciated. Tickets priced £10 are now available from any committee member or at Tuttie’s and can also be booked by phoning Gordon or Nicola on 01241 872991.

PLAYER SPONSORSHIP - TASC are delighted to have secured the sponsorship of Jamie Bishop for this season. On behalf of all members I would like to take this opportunity in wishing Jamie all the best in his task of defending his Supporters Player and Young Player of the Season awards which he rightfully won last season.

SUPPORTER’S BUSES - The committee would like to remind members that buses continue to be run to all away matches however of late, numbers have dipped with the knock on effect of buses starting to run at a loss therefore a decision was taken recently to increase prices for non members to £11 on Category A buses and £15 on Category B buses. I have detailed below current prices and categories:- CAT A: Albion Rovers, East Fife, East Stirling and Stenhousemuir (Members £8 & Non members £10) CAT B: Dumbarton, Elgin City and Stranraer (Members £10 & Non members £15)

T.A.S.C. TALK

Volume 1, Issue 5 -

10th February 2007

Firstly may I take this opportunity on behalf of the committee in wishing all members a prosperous New Year - both on and off the park and apologise for the delay in bringing out this latest issue of TASC TALK. TASC 1878’s second party night (Post Halloween Party) was held on Saturday 11th November and, along with the raffle a three figure sum was again raised.

On behalf of the committee I would like to thank all who turned up and supported the evening. Numbers for these events are steadily growing and in time we hope that more members take advantage of these occasions.

Thanks to Jivin’ Jim for the music and karaoke on the night and Arbroath Bowling Club for the use of their function suite and a special thanks to Nicola for the great buffet.

The TASC 1878 committee met towards the end of the year and have agreed to donate some of the Tuttie's in the Park money to the AFC youth team and cheque for £2000 was recently handed over.
The 1st Team have also benefited to the tune of £500 which has been used to provide new waterproof training jackets for the players.
Other causes to benefit were Street Football @ The Café Project and St Andrews Ambulance.

HAMPDEN FANCY DRESS - A big thanks to all who turned up in their santa gear for the match at Hampden in December. Although the result didn’t go our way a great day was had. Just how so many santa’s got the time off to attend the football at that time of year is beyond me though!!!!

EVENTS AHEAD - A list of forthcoming events planned to date can be below. Any members who have ideas for further fundraising events are invited to approach a committee member with their suggestions.

SUPPORTER’S BUSES - The committee would like to make members aware that buses continue to be run to all away matches however of late, numbers have dipped with the knock on effect of buses starting to run at a loss therefore any members travelling via other modes of transport are asked to consider the supporters bus. Gordon - secretary

All seats can be booked by either contacting Carol @ Tuttie’s on 01241 873627 or Gordon/Nicola on 01241 872991.

A meeting will be held next Thursday 26 October 2006 in Tuttie ’ s at 7.30pm for all members.

Items on the agenda will include the distribution of Tuttie’s in the Park and TASC funds and a rundown of planned future events therefore a large turnout of members would be appreciated.

OTHER NEWS: Just a reminder to all members that TASC will not be running a bus to the derby match on the 4th November due to costs involved however, I’m sure I’ll see the majority of you on the platform for either the 10.19 or 10.37am trains!

On behalf of the committee I would like to thank all who turned up and supported the evening - also thanks to Jivin’ Jim for the music and karaoke on the night and Carol and Alan at Tuttie’s for the stovies and raffle prizes provided.

It is hoped that TASC 1878 will be invited in the near future to AFC board meetings on a regular basis to give updates on what events the supporters club are carrying out and also as an avenue for feedback from AFC. IMPORTANT REMINDER!!!

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS (AND NON-MEMBERS) WHO UTILISE THE BUS TO AWAY GAMES: -

It saddens me deeply that on behalf of the other TASC 1878 committee members I have to waste space in this newsletter to point out that the club will not condone any incidents of racist or sectarian abuse whilst travelling on any bus run by the club to away games. Due to one members behaviour whilst travelling recently it was felt that we have to outline that the club will not tolerate these actions. If any member (or non-member) is found to be acting in this manner then his or her membership will be declared null and void and any future travel with TASC 1878 will not be considered.

OTHER NEWS: Nicola has asked me to thank everyone one for so far supporting the buses and advises that to date they have all run into profit, the on-board sale of football scratch cards and cards sold at home games in Tuttie’s by Eck Moug has also helped boost the clubs coffers.

The committee will be holding a meeting within the next couple of weeks to decide the allocation of the proceeds raised from Tuttie’s in the Park therefore, any suggestions of appropriate recipients can be made to any of the committee for consideration. It is expected that the majority of cash raised will be passed on to AFC but other causes like Street Football are being considered. TASC 1878 have sponsored Willie Martin for the coming season and given some of his early performances I am sure you will agree that he looks to be a good signing for the club and that you will join me in wishing him along with the rest of the squad all the best for this season.

Finally the club have also secured an advertising hoarding at Gayfield which we hope will help to promote TASC 1878 and show our commitment to AFC.

Gordon - secretary

August 22nd HAMPDEN PHWOAR!!!!!

The club enjoyed it's first away day to Hampden in real style (opinions may vary!!) as can be seen from the pictures that have been posted. This was the first of what will no doubt be a regular occurrence throughtout the season at away games  i.e. Santa suits at Christmas, etc and I'm sure the added colour and noise helped spur on the players at a stadium which can have a deathly atmosphere.

The next away game is Dumbarton on 3rd September and names are now being taken. The bus will be leaving Tuttie's @ 11am and seats can be booked at £7 for members and £9 for non-members by contacting Tuttie's on 01241 873627 or Gordon /Nicola on 01241 872991

Finally congratulations to Willie Martin (TASC 1878 - player sponsor) for notching his first goal for the club v East Fife - ultimately it turned out to be a disappointing day but let's hope it's the first of many for Willie.

July 26th THE NEW SEASON IS HERE!

Well it's been a hectic few weeks for the Committee and numerous helpers since the last newsletter and I am pleased to report that the Tuttie's in the Park gala day was a resounding success. On a day more akin to the Costa’s than Angus a large number of people turned out to support the numerous stalls and live music acts in what was a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding day for all concerned.
After all monies were receded and expenses paid the Committee are pleased to announce that a the sum of £3727.75 was raised which considering the whole day was only arranged In 5 weeks is quite remarkable, This will be allocated to AFC (Seniors and Youths) and other local charities In due course.
With the gala day now out of the way we can all turn our attentions to the real job in hand - getting right behind John and the boys. As you will see further down the first couple of busses have been booked and names are now
being taken for all supporters wishing to travel to the away games-It has also been decided that to kick off the season in style (yet to see what sonic of the shirts may look like) we will be making the first bus to Hampden the med affair. All people travelling on the bus are invited to turn out in their beach gear for a "Hawaiian Beach Party with grass skirts, Hawaiian shirts and shorts the order of the day along with beach balls, Lillo's, ate.
To a I low everyone's pockets to recover from the recent spate of fundraising It has been decided that we won "the holding any fundraisers In August however, we will be back on the money trail in September with our first Quiz Night to be held with date and time to be confirmed.
Finally, I would just like to thank everyone on their efforts in supporting TASC to date and look forward to seeing you on a bus to away games in the near future
