GoalkeepersDARREN HILL-signed during the January transfer window and despite a colourful reputation during his early career, has quickly established himself between the sticks at Gayfield. Good shot stopper and superb kicker of the ball with the ability to turn defence into attack. He is a dominant figure in the box and a bit of a favourite around the terracing.Scott Morrison - (25) a goalkeeper who signed for Arbroath from East Fife in summer of 2006. Made just four appearances last season. A reliable and competent performer who has performed well when called upon to don the no1 jersey. Scott played a vital role in the final league game of last season, pulling off a string of vital saves at Stranraer.DefendersJamie Bishop - (23) Central defender in his fourth season at Gayfield. Jamie featured prominently in the Dunfermline youth team before coming to Arbroath. Jamie signed from Dunfermline in July 2004 and has firmly established himself in the squad. Has a cool head on his shoulders and can be relied on to turn in a good performance. One of the most consistent defenders in the league. Jamie was invited down for a trial at Exeter City during the pre-season but opted to stay at Gayfield.Steven Rennie - (27) Signed from Falkirk in June 2003 and is the currently longest serving player at Gayfield. Experienced central defender who plays mostly at right back. He is the team's long throw specialist and adds another dimension in attack. Arbroath fans were delighted when this uncompromising and committed player signed for another season.Robbie Raeside - (36) Central defender Robbie joined Arbroath for his second spell in January 2006 when he teamed up again with John McGlashan as assistant manager and player. His experience helped steady the ship at the back. The most experienced player in the squad, Raeside has instilled a great deal of confidence in the younger players around him in defence. He is always there to cajole and advise when the team is under pressure. Robbie is another player who likes to get forward and nick a goal at set pieces. He scored several vital goals in the battle to secure a play off spot.ALAN CAMPBELL - farmed out on loan to Carnoustie Panmure early last season but recalled to cover for injured players. Can play in central defence but occupied the holding role last season, turning in some useful performances.ALAN RATTRAY - (29) This very experienced and respected defender spent 12 seasons at Station Park with local rivals Forfar Athletic. Alan signed for the Lichties during the January transfer window, just in time to play an important part in the push for promotion. He joined a growing list of players who have turned out for both clubs over the years.Kevin McMullan - (25) A product of Gayfield youth development and now the longest serving player at the club. Kevin is comfortable at right back or on the right side of midfield. An uncompromising player who gets stuck in. Flyer is a popular figure with the fans for his 100% commitment and never say die approach. A versatile player who has settled into a right midfield role. He is always looking for scoring opportunities and never gives up on a game until the final whistle is blownJOE DINGWALL - (20) After progressing through the youth set up at Starks Park, Joe made twenty appearances for Raith Rovers last season. Released in the in the summer, he signed on at Gayfield ready to challenge for a regular place in the side.MidfieldersBARRY SELLARS - (32) (Captain) A vastly experienced midfielder who returned to Gayfield in 2006. Barry departed for Clyde in May 2000 and moved on to Forfar the following November. His vision and command of the midfield combined with the ability to score important goals were important to us last season. His killer passes and deadly free kicks make him a match winner when he is on song. Barry is looking to play in a more attacking role this season.NICKY SMITH - (22) an enthusiastic midfield player a promising future, who has come up through the ranks. Plagued by injury last season, Nicky had a knee op that kept him out of the side for most of the campaign. After another op to remove a cyst Nicky can hopefully look forward to regaining full fitness and challenging for a place in the side.Roddy Black - (30) Left sided defender/midfielder who previously served Brechin City for ten years having signed on at the Glebe in 1995 from Carnoustie Panmure. Uncompromising in the tackle and capable of surging runs up the flank, his experience has been a vital asset for the club. Roddy filled the left wing back role last season but is also more than capable of playing in central midfield.Paul Watson - (22) A left footed midfielder who came up through the ranks at Gayfield. Paul has a knack of scoring spectacular goals and if he can add some simple “tap ins” he will beat his tally of eight goals from last season. More than capable of scoring from free kicks, Paul will be looking to carry on from where he left off last season.PAUL LUNAN – (25) Another ex Station Park signing, Paul was recruited to the cause in the January Transfer window. A talented midfielder and committed tackler, Paul was on the brink of a suspension when he switched to Gayfield and a couple of early bookings meant that he had to sit out a number of games before the fans could see what he had to offer. What they did see of Paul late in the season was enough to convince them that he has a lot to offer in the second division campaign ahead.TERRY MASSON - (19) Capped for Scotland at under 17s this rising star has had a good run of appearances in the pre season friendlies. Terry will be looking to stake a claim this season.JOHN FRASER – (30) Yet another of the ex Station Park contingent. John’s pre season programme was limited by a prior commitment. This defensive midfielder was a team mate of manager John McGlashan at Ross County and will be looking to convince the gaffer he is worthy of a regular start.ForwardsPaul Tosh - (34) started his career with home town club, Arbroath before moving to Dundee for £120k in 1993 and then to Hibs for £100k in 1996. After spells at Hibernian and Raith Rovers, he joined Forfar Athletic in 2001 and scored 90 goals for them before being released in 2007 following a loan spell at Gayfield. Started 35 games last season. His physical presence and ability to hold up the ball are still very much in evidence. His signing gives the team a blend of youth and experience in every area of the park and no doubt he will continue to score and create goals during his second spell with the team.Bryan Scott - (23) a prolific striker for junior side, Scone Thistle who joined Arbroath during the summer of 2006. His debut display at Hampden in the opening League Game was a revelation, scoring a double and setting up the third. His physical presence, lightning turn of speed and composure on the ball make his another fans favourite. Bryan Scored 11 goals last season and when he is fit and on the park he can make the difference.ANDY REILLY - (22) Although he spent a lot of time on the subs bench last season, Reilly still made a big contribution in the effort to claim a play off spot. What he lacks in height, he makes up for in gutsy determination. The diminutive former Dundee Violet player with a big heart will be looking to establish himself in the first eleven this season.SCOTT GATES – Played for Cowdenbeath against Arbroath in the play offs last season and his impressive displays convinced Manager John McGlashan to sign the winger from Dundee. Scott can play out on the left or through the middle. Prior to his loan spell with the Blue Brazil, he was on loan at Montrose but the fans will forgive him if he fulfils the destiny of ex players in scoring against them this season.
