Arbroath 1 - Partick Thistle 0

Team Sheet

With Innes Ritchie suspended, manager John Brownlie brought in Steven Moffat for his first starting position since he signed a month's contract with the Club. Stevie Mallan came in to replace the injured McInally. The fans were treated to an exciting fast-paced match and it took only two minutes for the home side to create their first chance when George Rowe fired just wide from a Paul Brownlie corner. At the other end of the pitch on-form keeper, Craig Hinchcliffe, blocked a 25-yard strike from Jamie Dolan after 11 minutes. Whilst much of the early action was focused around the Thistle penalty box, the visitors turned up the pressure, repeatedly testing the home defence but found it was not giving anything away. In the 39th minute an Andy Cargill cross was met by John McGlashan whose well aimed header put the home team ahead. A couple of minutes later Moffat shot into the side netting.

As the second half progressed, Mallan just missed getting his head to a Cargill cross in 64 minutes and eight minutes later Thistle were awarded a free kick on the edge of the penalty area after Steve Moffat fouled Alex Burns. Thankfully Gerry Britton's shot lacked power and Hinchcliffe saved easily. Thistle created numerous chances in the last 15 minutes or so but frequently found themselves falling foul of the offside flag and Arbroath held out to record another fine victory which pushes them up to fourth position in the League.
