In the only First Division match which had survived the onslaught of Winter, the game was played in wintry conditions and Arbroath pushed forward from the kick-off. It was however the home team who stormed into a two goal lead with the first goal coming in 25 minutes from a cross from the right which found our defence solid and the ball was met by a diving header, which went into the open goal. Five minutes later Wyness toe poked the ball home past Hinchcliffe from 6 yards out. This setback spurred on the Lichties and a handball offence in the home penalty box gave Stevie Mallan the opportunity to score from the spot just before half time.
We equalised two minutes into the second half when a Tait cross from the right found McGlashan racing in at the far post to head the ball home. In 64 minutes a corner from the Caledonian right was powered home at Hinchie’s right hand post to give the home team all three points.
