The Bairns took the lead in the 14th minute when a ball from the right was lashed low past Hinchcliffe into the net. It did not take long however for Arbroath to get back on level terms when 2 minutes later a Brownlie long throw was knocked on by McKinnon and George Rowe was at the near post to crash the ball home. Falkirk's Moss was sent off three minutes later when, following a foul on Cargill, he thundered his hand into Cusick's face as he tried to get the ball away.

In the second half, John McGlashan was sent off after 62 minutes when he received a  second yellow card which was awarded as he tried to sop further disruption. We got our second goal in 76 minutes when a Heenan cross was turned into the Falkirk goal by substitute McAulay. Two minutes later Bayne sent over a great cross to the back post where Cargill was waiting to bury a header into the bottom right hand corner of the net. We held out for a great victory.
