The Bairns

Arbroath 0 - Falkirk 1

Team Sheet

John Brownlie brought Gavin Swankie and John Cusick into the team in place of Steve Florence and Paul Brownlie who were both on the bench along with Kevin Heenan who was brought back into the squad. Playing a 4-4-2 formation, Arbroath had a strong wind at their back in the first half but were unable to put the visitors goal under any real pressure. Colin McKinnon had a good shot wide of goal, George Rowe headed over from a Cargill corner on our left, Innes Ritchie put the ball into the net following the Falkirk keeper failing to hold a shot but alas used his hand to do so. Falkirk scored against the run of play and just before half time the visiting keeper saved a McInally effort.

Falkirk failed to dominate the second half with wind advantage and Hinchcliffe only had a couple of saves to make however Arbroath could not create any chances with McKinnon probably having the best half chance but the wind blew the cross ball away from him in front of an open goal. The introduction of Mallan, Florence and Heenan in the second half failed to turn the game our way.
