For the final match of the season, John Brownlie brought in Ewan Graham into
the centre of defence to play with Ritchie as a replacement for George Rowe who
was on the substitutes bench. With Graham Bayne out of the squad Stevie Mallan
was joined up front by Paul Brownlie.
Arbroath started with early pressure however it was Clyde who almost got the
first goal as Hinchcliffe’s clearance cannoned off a Clyde attacker but went
past. This break spurred Clyde into life however against the run of play, Cusick
flicked Roddie’s second attempt at a corner from the right into the centre of
the goalmouth and Mallan pushed the ball home through a ruck of defenders. Just
before half-time Mallan was fouled on the left wing outside the penalty box and
John Cusick curled the free kick inside the left post to put us two nil up at
half-time albeit against the run of play.
