This match had been rearranged to a Tuesday night due to the Honest Men's Cup matches against the old firm - well to be precise their league Cup Final against Rangers.  John Brownlie introduced Greg Henslee into the starting line-up and the youngster had an excellent game, asking for the ball from the start being not scared to go in where it hurts when tackles were required.

We started off the match brightly and were the better team for most of the first half however poor crossing let us down. Towards the end of the half Cargill was fouled twice as he tried to cut inside for a shot, he dummied the free kick and George Rowe’s low drive went through the legs of the six man wall into Craig Nelson arms. At the other end Hinchcliffe produced a fine save.

The home team started the second half with renewed purpose but despite having the majority of possession Ayr found that we defended well. The players were delighted at the final whistle as a point tonight was a bonus.
