In what was possibly Airdrie's last ever league match at New Broomfield the teams served up a poor display in a meaningless match.

Airdrie killed of the match as a contest in the fifth minute when they went ahead and at the end of the first half, during which the visitors seldom troubled the Airdrie defence, the home team scored a a second goal. Heenan came on for Henslee in the second half and we had a couple of half chances from headers and Mallan passed up a scoring opportunity. The game ended with Airdrie reduced to 10 men for the last 10 minutes when substitute Gardner had to go off injured with all their substitutes used up but alas the numerical advantage did not assist Arbroath.
