Highlights:- again hit badly by suspension, John Brownlie had
been unable to strengthen his squad prior to today's match and lined up 4-4-2
against the visitors who had los 7 nil to Forfar last weekend. Arbroath took an
early lead following a low Mercer cross from the right, a defender failed to
clear and the ball landed at John McGlashan's feet and he wasted no time in
slotting it home. Following a Brownlie corner in 33 minutes, mercer challenged
the keeper and the ball broke to George Rowe who kicked the ball home to put us
2 nil up. Stenhousemuir exerted some pressure before half time and at the other
end Paul Brownlie should have put us 3 up before the interval but the defence
cleared.
Stenhousemuir had a player red carded early in the second half before John
McAulay and Paul Brownlie both shot home in the space of 2 minutes to put us 4
nil up. Kevin Fotheringham completed the scoring with another shot. Good keeping
and poor finishing stopped us adding to our total.
