Highlights:- being the senior of the only two games being played in Scotland the match featured the great and the good of Scottish football in the watching crowed, a large contingent of photographers and BBC Radio Scotland for a live broadcast. Playing 4-4-2, an early injury to John McGlashan and his substitution by John McAulay failed to affect the visitors but they lost a goal against the run of play in 12 minutes. It did no take long to get back on level terms and Paul Brownlie equalised 3 minutes later from a Florence pass. Florence was then brought down in the penalty box but the referee waved play on and in the last minute of the first half a Fotheringham header hit the post. Arbroath were the better team in the first half however in the second half, after Fotheringham had forced the home keeper to bring out a good save and Mercer had headed over, Queens took control of the game and in the end we had Wight to thank for escaping with a point when he pulled off a couple of great saves.
