Highlights:- In front of the largest Second Division crowd they
have been watched by, Arbroath were forced to defend in the early stages of the
match as Partick pushed herd for the opener. The Maroon defence however held out
well and soon Arbroath forced their way back into the game. Mercer had a goal
chalked off when the referee adjudged that Thomson had fouled the home keeper
when they both went up for the same ball. In 33 minutes, following some good
work by McKinnon, he laid the ball off to John McGlashan and with an open goal
in front of him John sliced the bal past the post.
With the wind at their back in the second half Colin McKinnon took advantage of
some hesitancy in the home defence in 48 minutes and lobbed the ball into the
open goal to take the lead. Steel replaced Mallan and his speed caused the home
defence on end of problems and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet. At the
other end Partick were trying hard to draw level and near the end Craig
Hinchcliffe made a great single handed save to keep our lead.
