Substitutes:- Hinchcliffe, Swankie (62 for Steele), Cusick (62 for Graham), Cunningham, Kirk (84 for Maughan)
Highlights:- With promotion assured, manager Brownlie decided to
give the young and fringe players an outing in the last match of the season at
Clydebank. The starting line-up therefore bore no relation to that which had won
promotion a week earlier with youngsters Graham, Steel and Henslee featuring
from the start along with David Arbuckle, making only his second appearance of
the season. Arbroath had the better of the early first half play with Jim Mercer
controlling midfield but it was the Bankies who took the lead in 38 minutes.
The second half saw the make-shift Lichties lose another two goals before young substitute,
Gavin Swankie, pulled a goal back through a superb strike. The late introduction
of Stevie Kirk for his final appearance before hanging up his boots failed to
turn the match.
