McAulay Thomson Crawford
Maughan Mercer C McGlashan Cusick McKinnon
Substitutes:- Wight, Steele (for C McGlashan), Heenan (for Maughan) Cunningham, J McGlashan (for McKinnon)
Highlights:- On a very windy evening, more like Gayfield
conditions, Arbroath who were missing the injured Stevie Mallan had the wind advantage
and in the first minute Cusick, who had returned from suspension, had a good attempted
stopped by the keeper. McKinnon was partnering Colin McGlashan up front but it
was John McAulay who came closest in the first half which Arbroath dominated.
With the wind at their backs in the second half Berwick came out fired up and in
the firs 29 minutes had an effort cleared off of the line by Florence, an effort
which hit the bar and a 35 yard wind assisted free kick which rocketed past
Hinchcliffe. Arbroath through caution to the wind but no-one could convert Heenan's
fine crosses and in a desperate last ditch attempt Mercer was moved up front but
we were unable to pull level.
