Special Charity Auction - John McGlashan + Kerr Waddell

Update - Kerr's Shirt and the Boardroom Hospitality Auction is currently sitting at a bid of £352.77 and Kimberly's Justgiving Page is now up to £640

If you wish to place a bid email arbroathfcfacebook@gmail.com

The closing date for the auction is 5pm Monday 26th February.

www.justgiving.com/fundraising/kimberly-carr2

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

We were contacted this week by the Waddell Family.

As most of you will know Kerr Waddell is a footballer at Dundee FC and a big Arbroath fan.

Kerr (19) has come through the ranks at Dens Park and is now a first team regular and has also has scored 3 goals this season including a double over Hearts back in September.

John McGlashan played a pivotal role in the development in so many young local footballers who he believed in and could see the talent and potential in them.

Kerr Waddell was one of those players.

A few years ago John took Kerr from the Arbroath Lads Club U16s in November to train with the Dundee U16/17s and made sure Kerr was one of Dundee’s signings on January 1st when the transfer window opened.

Even when John left Dens he still kept in touch with Kerr’s father, Davie to find out about Kerr’s progression at Dundee

When Kerr won his first contract John gave him this Arbroath FC Number 17 shirt from the 2009 / 2010 season.

Kerr would like us to auction off this special shirt to help Kimberly Carr.

Kimberly’s Brother in law was John McGlashan and she is
running the Great Women’s 10km Glasgow in June to raise money and awareness of Motor Neurone Disease Scotland.

So far she has smashed her target of £250 and now sits at £480.00 but we think we could help her reach well over £1000

www.justgiving.com/fundraising/kimberly-carr2

Our special auction prize is the Arbroath shirt given to Kerr from John himself.

In addition to Kerr's Arbroath Shirt, the winner will also get Boardroom Hospitality for 2 for the Arbroath vs Ayr United match on 3rd March where they will be presented with the shirt.

The Shirt and Hospitality Package will go to the highest bid and all funds will go to Kimberly’s fundraising for Motor Neurone Disease Scotland.

The closing date for the auction is 5pm Monday 26th February.

To enter, please email your bid to arbroathfcfacebook@gmail.com

We will provide updates in the run down to the 26th to make sure everyone has a chance.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Kerr Waddell for donation of his shirt. We know how cherished and treasured this shirt is to Kerr, and the memory it holds of John.

In addition even if you don’t wish to bid, please check out Kimberly’s Just Giving Page as any all donations are welcome.

Help - Suit Mix Up

There is no doubt this is the oddest post yet on our Facebook page, but we are truly stuck!

On the 30th December 2017 we hosted East Fife FC at Gayfield and again we had a busy crowd in our Hospitality and Boardroom Suites.

As our guests left we think that there maybe have been a mix up
between two guests who both owned Charcoal coloured suit jackets.

It seems one guest has put on the wrong charcoal jacket totally unaware. It could be that it has been taken off as soon as they got home, hung up in the wardrobe and not been looked at since.

The Charcoal Suit that has been left behind is slightly larger and a different charcoal tone, where as the one that has been picked up by accident is part of a 3 piece suit and slightly smaller.

Were you there? Did you wear a charcoal suit? Are you sartorially stylish and always look the part?

If so could you please get in touch! 😂

It's a difficult journey at the best of times, but even trickier when you are navigating the roads into the wee small hours.

Hats off to you all and hopefully the 3 points and performance was well worth the journey. We hope everyone got home safely.

Thank you again!

Stranraer 1 - 4 Arbroath

It was a fantastic night for the Lichties as they came back from a goal down to score 4 and move back up into 3rd in Ladbrokes League One.

Arbroath fell behind early on after a stunning strike from Cameron MacPherson rocketed into the top corner but Arbroath slowly found their flow on a very heavy surface and almost drew level when a Robertson passback was short and MIchael McKenna almost took advantage.

In the 39th minute Ryan Wallace pulled Arbroath back into the game from the penalty spot after McKenna was taken out.

HT 1-1

The second half had just kicked off and Arbroath got their second goal. A great cross to the back post was headed home emphatically by McKenna scoring his first Arbroath goal.

Ryan Wallace got his second of the night again from the penalty spot after Danny Denholm was pulled down by Jamie Hamill.

Home Goalie Max Currie made a few stunning saves to deny McKenna and Wallace as their partnership blossomed.

Substitute Leighton McIntosh battled forward with the ball before crossing into the middle for Danny Denholm to hit Arbroath’s fourth goal!

A great win on the road and we remain undefeated in 2018.

Huge thanks to the 14 Lichties who made the long trip to cheer on the team. Much appreciated and safe journey home!

More to come whenever we get back to Arbroath!

C’mon the Lichties!!!

Stranraer vs Arbroath - Match Preview

Match Day 25 - Ladbrokes League 1 - Season 2017 / 2018

Tuesday 20th February 2018, Stair Park, Stranraer 7.45pm kick off.

Arbroath make the long trip south tomorrow to Stair Park to play our rescheduled match against Stranraer.

Stranraer had a difficult trip to Angus on Saturday as they suffered a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Forfar Athletic.

Arbroath will be seeking to find the goal trail again but with 3 clean sheets in our last 3 matches and undefeated in 2018 the players are on a fantastic run of form.

Our last trip seen the Lichties hit Stranraer for 6 in a game which Arbroath looked like scoring every time they got the ball. Of course these games are very rare and Stevie Farrell will have his side pumped up as they look to extender their current fine run at home.

Hearts starlet Angus Beith has been Stranraer’s star player recently and the on loan midfielder has been rewarded by being voted Ladbrokes League 1 player of the Month for January.

With manager Dick Campbell being voted Ladbrokes League 1 Manager of the Month, but serving his second of a 5 match suspension and with former Blues striker Ryan Wallace returning to Stair Park it certainly has the potential to be an entertaining fixture.

Despite losing several key and experienced players, Stranraer have kept fighting and sit just 3 points behind the Lichties in 5th place. Several young Premiership loanees have joined Angus at Stair Park.

Arbroath will be without Steven Doris and Ryan McCord.

Stranraer Arrivals;

Ross Lyon - Midfielder - Rangers - Loan

We welcomed back the ACSC - Arbroath Community Sports Club Youth Development team of 5-7 year olds to Gayfield on Saturday to take part in our Youth Match Day Experience.

The young players also posed with books to launch our 442 Reading Project.

They watched the game from the stands cheering on the Lichties before taking to the pitch for a competitive game at half time!

We hope they all enjoyed their afternoon!
