Lichtie Trophy Tour Part 7 - Arbikie Highland Estate

The Ladbrokes League 2 Championship winning trophy
called in on Arbikie Highland Estate Distillery yesterday on a perfect summer's day with Lunan Bay shimmering in the background.

Arbikie are a really valuable sponsor to Arbroath Football Club.

This local business is really taking off all over the world right now with their gin's and vodka's and we were so fortunate when we they produced a special vodka and gin to celebrate the 130th Anniversary of Arbroath’s 36-0 World Record win over Aberdeen Bon Accord in 1885.

However, the connection between Arbikie Highland Estate and Arbroath Football club is based on more than just geography.

Ian Stirling the uncle of John, Iain and David was a club captain of Arbroath before eventually becoming chairman.

We are very fortunate and proud to have such a special connection to Arbikie and the Stirling Family and we hope they enjoyed lifting the trophy!

C'mon the Lichties!

Arbroath Football Club - Official shared SPFL's photo.

Dick Campbell - Ladbrokes League 2 Manager of the Season and April SPFL League 2 Manager of the Month.

It's a huge honour to announce that our manager Dick Campbell has been named the SPFL Ladbrokes League 2 Manager of the Season.

The Ladbrokes yearly awards are voted for by members of the Scottish media, with a Manager and a Player of the Year selected for each of the four divisions.

Dick and his backroom staff moved to the club when we were in a very difficult position in the league. Over the summer he secured some very talented players in the transfer market and reshaped our squad.

The season was a game of catch up after Forfar Athletic's amazing start, but with determination the Lichties clawed back the lead and even on the 4th of February when we found ourselves 11 points from the top of the league the 'never give up' attitude was firmly in place and the overwhelmingly strong bond between a very talented group of players really set in.

Under the guidance of Dick, his brother Ian, John Young and John Ritchie the Lichties triumphed on a day in Stirling we will always remember.

This is a fantastic award which is very much deserved!

On top of this accolade Dick was also named SPFL Manager for the Month of April! - His first Manager of the Month award all season!

Congratulations Dick!

Happy Birthday Ricky Little!

Almost 4 years ago, on the 6th of July 2013, on a hot Saturday afternoon Ricky Little made his Arbroath debut against Craigroyston FC in Edinburgh.

It would be fair to say that since Ricky and Bobby joined in the summer of 2013 it has been a bit of a rollercoaster.

Ricky suffered a serious injury minutes into his competitive debut against Stenhousemuir, then a relegation followed from League One, A large championship lead lost, then last season was very hard for everyone.

However, this season - well this season has been very, very special. A Championship Trophy, A league winning medal, the best defence in the league, and the second best away record in Scottish Football and named in the PFA Team of the Year again alongside his defensive partner Colin Hamilton.

Every Lichtie has a special admiration for Ricky. He gives everything on and off the pitch and is always one of the first players to be congratulating his team mates when a goal is scored!

Happy Birthday Ricky! We hope you are all enjoying the weekend together!

C'mon the Lichties!

Cmon the Lichties!

Arbroath FC Kit Auction

We all have a favourite player! Do you have a favourite kit number too?

Was it the #8 shirt of Ryan McCord who made you celebrate as he curled in a free kick?

Perhaps it was Captain Mark Whatley in his #6 Shirt?

Maybe Ricky Little #4 and Colin Hamilton #5 as the best defensive partnership in the league?

Could it be Bobby Linn #11 as he switched from his traditional #7

Or maybe the safe hands of Ricky Gomes as our #1

Arbroath FC are offering supporters a unique opportunity to purchase something special from the 2016/17 title winning season.

Each of the individual first team playing kits now available at auction to the highest bidder.

Not only will you have the a piece of history but you will be helping Arbroath FC as all funds raised will be ploughed back directly into the club.

Both the Pendle maroon home kit and the navy and yellow away kit which was worn on the day the team clinched the title at Stirling Albion on the 6th of May are available

With numbers 1 to 18 and the 2nd goalkeeper kit number 21 individually available.

Supporters are invited to submit bids for the kit of their choice by emailing briancargill50@gmail.com or by phoning or texting Brian Cargill on 07793-070168.

A confirmation email or text of your bid will be sent and bidders will also be advised if they have been outbid to give an opportunity to increase their own bid should they wish.

There is a minimum bid of £20 for each kit.

The auction closes at midnight on Monday the 12th of June.

Good luck and C’mon the Lichties!

SPFL LADBROKES LEAGUE 2 CHAMPIONS – ARBROATH FC

Winning the 2016/17 SPFL Ladbrokes League 2 Championship has been a fantastic achievement for Arbroath FC. The Board of Directors would very much like to thank the Management & Coaching Staff led by Dick Campbell and all of the Players who have made this success possible. The Team has played attacking entertaining football throughout the season and thoroughly deserved winning the League Title.

The Directors would also like to thank all Club Supporters who have supported the Team extraordinarily way both at Home and Away fixtures all season. In particular the large number of Supporters who travelled to Stirling for the final game of the season. Your vocal support for the Players was fantastic throughout the game and was greatly appreciated by the Manager and his Players. It really was a great and memorable day for the Club.

Winning the Championship was also a great finale for Club Chairman, Mr John Christison, who has now retired after many years loyal service to the Club as a Supporter, Board Member and Chairman. The Board wish to thank John for everything he has done to ensure that the Club has been managed well over many years and wish him well for his retirement. Mr Mike Caird has now taken over the role of Club Chairman and along with the remaining Directors, has already started planning ahead for and working towards the 2017/18 season.

Continued support for the Club next season will again be vitally important and we look forward to seeing as many supporters as possible at Gayfield next season to build on the tremendous success of season 2016/17.

Thank you

C'mon the Lichties

Pete BellBeen great working as a steward and again next season hopefully. The fans and all the staff at gayfield make it a joy to work there. From the board right down the chain it has been one special year. I have travelled to a small amount of away games but have really enjoyed them. To be at Stirling when we won the league was special as I was at Gayfield when we lifted the title in 2011. Bring on next season I can't wait.

Sye WebsterCongrats to John for keeping the Red Lichties a well run club when other clubs have nearly went to the wall, best of luck to Mike now being Chairman and he is another 100% Red Lichtie fan in charge of his home town club which is great to see, also well done to the other Board members who do a great job behind the scenes plus with some recent new blood on board with new ideas which is bringing the club and town closer together i know that Brain Cargill has played a major role in this vital connection between club and town and long may it continue, finally well done to the Management/backroom staff/players/sponsors/and supporters of the club for pulling together and to win the Championship, there seems to be a good feelgood factor around the club those days which is great to see.

Lichtie Spirit

We have been very lucky to be granted and given a chance to see the bond that exists in the 4 walls of the Arbroath changing room with this short video.

Not many fans or even officials get to see what is said in the privacy of that football sanctuary.

Many times it is where football games can be won, and performances turned around to win those 3 valuable points. This group of Arbroath players have a very special bond.

There are several players who have been at the club for a few years, and those who have returned home to Gayfield, but for many, this was their first season as a Lichtie, and it is one that they will never ever forget.

The spirit, the camaraderie, the bond - whatever name it takes - It was fully present within a very special set of players, backroom staff, coaches and Management.
