Volunteer Videographer Wanted
Arbroath Football Club are seeking a motived volunteer videographer to join the club and as we look forward to playing our football in Scotland’s second tier, the Ladbrokes Championship.
As everyone knows our videographer Neil Douglas is stepping down from the Gantry to focus on making a full recovery and we know we have very very big shoes to fill!
The main responsibilities of the videographer include, capturing the action of a live match day and editing it down to a 8-12 minute highlight package which can be used on the club’s website and official social media - Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
As well as having your work shared on the official Arbroath channels and the SPFL channel there is always the chance that a unique moment during a game will end up with the clip being shown on "A View from the Terrace" or one of the national news channels.
You will be given admission to Gayfield and all away stadia as part of the Arbroath FC media team and will have access to the Arbroath playing squad and management team on match days for interviews.
Ideally candidates will have a knowledge of an editing suite - Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Davinci Resolve, iMovie etc to cut the highlights down into a highlight package and have a suitable camera which can be used capture the action.
There is the chance for the candidate to put their own stamp of identity on how things are presented and we appreciate those those who think out of the box and have their own ideas to apply.
We fully appreciate that we are looking for someone who is a highly skilled individual and who can take on the position as a volunteer.
This is a big ask in any walk of life but as a part-time football club we wouldn’t be where we are without our volunteers as part of our football team.
We have been very fortunate in the past with Neil and our previous videographers but if you are passionate about football and this appeals we would love to hear from you.
Please send a brief introduction, an example of your work (Youtube, Vimeo links) and your contact details to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you ... See MoreSee Less

Arbroath FC Thank Neil Douglas / @36nilTV
As you all know, our good friend and club videographer Neil Douglas suffered a stroke at Gayfield on 16th March during the half time interval as we faced East Fife.
The positive news is that Neil is now home from hospital and reunited with his wife Natasha and is making remarkable progress in his recovery from such a life changing event.
Neil has shown incredible determination and fight in his rehabilitation and now makes daily visits to Hospital for physiotherapy but is back in the comfort of his own home every night.
It’s important that Neil puts all his efforts into making a full recovery and so Neil has decided to take early retirement from videography and hang up his football boots and videocamera.
We know how passionate Neil is for Arbroath Football Club and for videography and he has our full support and gratitude.
Arbroath Football Club would like to thank Neil Douglas for the dedication and time he has given not only us as a football club, but to the hundreds and thousands of supporters out there who have enjoyed his videos and interviews all over the world.
It’s not just arriving at Gayfield or traveling to any of the other grounds around Scotland and filming the match and staying behind to film the post-match interviews, but it is the sacrifice of giving up your Saturday with your family and also sitting down behind a computer for several hours to seamlessly edit the footage, create graphics and then upload the footage before sharing it on social media.
All of that goes unseen, and it all appears effortlessly as fans sit down at 12.01am (Neil used to have it done and uploaded sometimes by 9pm but we got our wrists slapped, so we had to wait until midnight) to watch the goals, sliding tackles and controversial moments before taking to social media or to football forums to prove they were right.
Neil is a Lichtie and through his YouTube Channel, Instagram Page and Twitter Page of 36nilTV we would be treated to match highlights, post match interviews, Goal of the month, Goal of the season, Hall of Fame Celebration Dinner Dances, End of season awards and so much more.
Neil’s Youtube channel has had over 300,000 views and contains hundreds of uploaded videos since he began in the summer of 2016 and captured that amazing day in Stirling from start to finish not to mention all of the stunning goals captured and his footage has been used frequently on the SPFL Official pages as well as on the BBC and STV news - and not to mention a View from the Terrace!
In recognition of his services as a volunteer to Arbroath FC, Neil was awarded "The John Christison Community Services Trophy" this season which was picked up by his wife Natasha at the end of season awards.
Despite not being in the TV Gantry this season, Arbroath Chairman Mike Caird has set Neil the challenge of being in the boardroom for the first league game of the season when the flag will be raised over Gayfield Park.
Club Captain Mark Whatley, Louise Walker and Graham recently visited Neil in Hospital and Neil got photographed with the Ladbrokes League One Trophy and we hope to recreate that photograph when Neil returns to Gayfield in August.
We hope that Neil will still be able to make it to Gayfield as often as possible and take in all the action of the Lichties in the Championship.
From absolutely everyone at Gayfield and on behalf of all the Arbroath supporters near and far we thank you for your commitment and dedication Neil!
Keep on that path to recovery and see you soon!
C’mon the Lichties!

All the best Neil was glad of your Highlights when I had an operation on my foot and missed a few games had to wait until I could visit public builds to view the highlights. Why not feature Neil with the trophy on the cover of the programme for the first league game when hopefully he manages to make the trip to Gayfield?5 days ago
I hope and wish Neil all the best in his retirement . His work was hugely appreciated by all lichtie fans worldwide. Even those fans who wanted to relive the moment. Your dedication to your work always showed in the finished article. It will not be the same at gayfield without you filming. May the rest of your recovery be as remarkable as the first stage. A true gentleman and all round decent bloke loved by many. So I say this all the love and best wishes from every lichtie worldwide.5 days ago

On Friday we held our 2019 Arbroath FC Annual Golf Day at the Arbroath Artisan Golf Club, and Arbroath Golf Links - Arbroath Golf Links

There was some early shouts of “fore” over the course with also some Augusta style cheering as the teams made progress round the course.
Arbroath Chairman Mike Caird and Vice Chairman Ewen West were joined by Operations and Kit Manager Louise Walker as they provided the players with some refreshments along the way.
As the afternoon came to an end we all headed back to the club house for a meal before the scorecards were checked and verified.
Arbroath Manager Dick Campbell addressed the attendees as he discussed the season ahead and also thanked everyone involved for another great day which provided the club with more funds for the upcoming season.

Happy 13th Birthday to Ellamae Campbell!
Yesterday we celebrated Bert Cargill's 90th Birthday and today we celebrate the 13th Birthday of young Arbroath fan, Ellamae Campbell who is pictured here with our Manager Dick Campbell.
Everyone at Arbroath FC would like to wish Ellamae a very Happy Birthday!
The Birthday wishes also come from her mum, Mrs Maureen Mary Campbell and the rest of her family.
She's going to be using some of her birthday pennies from Granny and Granda Fulton to buy her first "Juvenile" season ticket and we adore that news!
Ellamae is a huge Bobby Linn fan and apparently has been talking non-stop about our latest signings Derek Gaston and Scott Stewart and can't wait to see them in action.
Our club is nothing without our supporters and we really do love the enthusiasm and dedication that you all show!

Season Ticket sales are crucial for the club as it brings in revenue allowing us to plan for the season ahead on and off the pitch.
We have the cheapest full price season ticket in the Championship and with friendlies against Premier League sides Heart of Midlothian, Hibernian and a Celtic XI it really does give you amazing value for money.
This is a huge season for the Lichties as we head into the Championship as League One Champions, and the only side to go up this season.
We will welcome Alloa Athletic, Ayr United, Dundee, Dundee United, Dunfermline Athletic, Greenock Morton, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Partick Thistle and Queen of the South to Gayfield in our most challenging season in many years.
We will be up against 8 very good full time sides who have many years experience in the Premiership and Championship and fellow part-time side, Alloa Athletic who last season showed why they are currently the best part-time team in Scotland.
This is why more than ever we need your support!
Manager Dick Campbell alongside his brother Ian with coaches John Young and Robert Douglas last season won League One, only two seasons after winning League Two.
We want to give them the backing they deserve so we can really make an impression in the Championship.
We already have 16 players signed up; Darren Jamieson, Derek Gaston, Jason Thomson, Ricky Little, Thomas O’Brien, Colin Hamilton, David Gold, Mark Whatley, Omar Kader, Bobby Linn, Michael McKenna, Scott Stewart, Gavin Swankie, Luke Donnelly, Greig Spence and Steven Doris
Help us in adding to this already talented team of players.
It would be easy for us the club to significantly inflate the price of season tickets but we want to show our gratitude to our fans who have supported and backed the club brilliantly over the last few seasons.
The prices for our Junior and juvenile season tickets will remain frozen, whilst the senior-citizen ticket will rise by £10 and the adult season ticket will only rise by £20 (about a £1 a game more)

Arbroath FC can confirm that midfielder Ryan McCord is leaving the club after 3 very successful seasons where he won both League Two and League One Titles.
Ryan has been a firm fan favourite with his silky skills and spectacular goals not to mention his crucial goals which were pivotal in both League Two and League One Trophies.
Ryan joined Arbroath in the summer of 2016 after moving to Gayfield from Raith Rovers, having started his career at Dundee United before spells with Stirling Albion, Airdrieonians, Alloa Athletic and Raith Rovers.
He would make his debut in our televised Betfred Cup match against former club, Dundee United but would score his first goal for the Lichties against Montrose at Links Park on the 13th of August, in a dramatic match where Ryan also was sent off for picking up two yellow cards.
His second goal was a 94th minute equaliser against Annan Athletic before another goal followed against Clyde then a late header sealing a crucial point against Forfar Athletic at Station Park.
Goals again came against Berwick Rangers (2), Montrose, Annan Athletic, Cowdenbeath before another stunning goal again at Station Park sealed a great win.
However Ryan kept his best to last in the 2016 / 2017 when he scored a hat-trick against Elgin City at Gayfield on the penultimate day of the season to keep the Lichties in the hunt for the League 2 Championship. A perfect performance and one which certainly helped land the title.
Ryan scored 13 goals in 38 appearances in his debut 2016/2017 season.
Ryan’s 2017 / 2018 season was a bit more of a rollercoaster as Ryan juggled his footballing career whilst also studying and working in a placement in his final year for his BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering, which he successfully obtained!
Ryan was a mainstay in the heart of midfield before he moved into a more centre forward role after Steven Doris was hit by injury.
In an incredible 5 week period Ryan scored twice against Forfar Athletic, before notching a hat-trick against Stranraer, then a goal against Alloa Athletic before adding another 2 against Airdrieonians with a sensational chip goal from the byline.
However as the season went on, Ryan found it harder to get back into the team but still managed goals against Stranraer and Ayr United as we finished our first season in League One in the the play-offs.
Ryan scored 10 goals in 26 appearances in the 2017 / 2018 season.
This season, the early form of the starting 11 made it very hard for any player to break into the team as we went the first 17 games without suffering a defeat.
Ryan’s eye for goal still played a crucial part in our success this season when he came off the bench and scored a late goal against Stenhousemuir in Game 7 to secure all 3 points before then scoring against Stenhousemuir again at Gayfield.
In the 20th game of the season it looked again like we were going to have to settle for a point as Brechin City were resolute in defending, but Ryan came off the bench to score another vital goal as he flicked in an 82nd minute header!
Ryan scored 3 goals in 6 starting appearances with a further 18 appearances from the bench in the 2018/2019 season.
In total Ryan made 60 starts, a further 27 appearances from the bench and scored 26 goals!
Ryan leaves Gayfield with the best wishes of everyone at Gayfield for the future.
A class act on and off the pitch, who always grabbed the fans imagination and attention when he got on the ball seeing passes that nobody else could and pinging the ball into the net for fun and of course certainly owner of one of the best songs at Gayfield in years!
Pongo will be missed and leaves Gayfield with the best wishes of everyone. We wish him all the very best to him and his young family.
All the very best Ryan! ... See MoreSee Less
Gutted Pongo is away from the Red Lichties but all the best to him in the future, one of the most gifted players to ever wear the famous maroon shirt, his hat-trick versus Elgin City when we went on to win the 2nd Division Championship was MASSIVE for us and some of his goals and free-kicks will live in the memory, whoever signs him is getting a great player just unfortunate his fitness levels are not at the Championship level, all the best Ryan McCord for the future 36-0.2 weeks ago · 8
