Kit Auction - Ends Sunday 26th May - 6pm

Have you bid yet?

Arbroath FC are offering supporters a unique opportunity to purchase something special from the 2018/2019 League One title winning season.

Each of the individual first team playing kits are now available at auction to the highest bidder.

Not only will you have the a piece of history but you will be helping Arbroath FC as all funds raised will be ploughed back directly into the club.

Both the Pendle Maroon home kit (Shirt, shorts and socks) kit and the Black and Maroon Away kit (Shirt, shorts and socks) which was worn on the day the team clinched the title at Brechin are available

With numbers 1 to 18 (no #13 shirt) and the 2nd goalkeeper kit number 21 individually available.

Having successfully auctioned the Ladbrokes League 2 winning shirts in 2017 we learned some valuable lessons.

Bidders are advised to confidentially indicate their initial bid and the maximum amount they would wish to pay for a kit.

Also supporters are asked not to wait until the last minute to place their bid as some bidders missed out last time due to the large number of last minute bids.

This is the best way to ensure that you don’t miss out on the kit that you want to buy.

The auction closes at 6pm on Sunday 26th May 2019 so don’t risk losing the kit that you really want.

Please complete this information when you email or text your bid.

Supporters are invited to submit bids for the kit of their choice by emailing briancargill50@gmail.com or texting Brian Cargill on 07793-070168.

A confirmation email or text of your bid will be sent and bidders will also be advised if they have been outbid to give an opportunity to increase their own bid should they wish.

There is a minimum bid of £20 for each kit. It is more than likely that bidding will surpass the minimum bid.

The auction closes at 6pm on Sunday 26th May 2019

The previous auction in 2017 proved to be very popular and we are sure that the kits that won the club their biggest ever honour will prove even more popular.

This fundraiser will help the club to make the best challenge that we can in the Championship next year.

Thank you for your support last season and we are all eagerly looking forward to next season.

Good luck and C’mon the Lichties!

Arbroath FC are delighted to announce that Club Captain Mark Whatley has signed a contract extension to remain at Gayfield for the new season.

Mark signed for the Lichties in the summer of 2014 and made his competitive debut coming on as a substitute in the 1st round of the Petrofac Cup.

Mark then made 44 starting appearances in his debut season for the Lichties including starting all 36 league games and both play off matches whilst scoring against Clyde in the League.

44 Starts, 1 substitute appearance – 1 goal

In the 2015-2016 season, Mark made 3 starts in the Scottish Cup, and a further 33 out of 36 starts in the League with one further appearance from the bench and scored goals against Cowdenbeath in the Scottish Cup and Montrose and East Stirlingshire in the League

36 starts, 1 substitute appearance – 3 goals

Mark again had another fantastic season in 2016-2017 where he started every game in the Betfred Cup (4), Irn-Bru Cup (2) and Scottish Cup (2) whilst starting 35 out of 36 league games and scoring against Annan Athletic and Clyde as Mark lifted the League 2 Trophy as Arbroath Captain.

43 starts - 2 goals

Mark entered League One with the Lichties and again kept up his incredible run in the team, Betfred Cup 2 starts (1 sub), Irn-Bru Cup (1) and Scottish Cup (2) whilst starting 35 of the 36 league games and also coming on as a sub and starting 1 of the 2 play-off semi-finals. Mark only scored one goal that season but it was a peach against Ayr United.

41 starts, 1 substitute appearance - 1 goal

Mark entered his 5th season with the Lichties again captaining the side and for the 2nd time lifted a title winning trophy as Arbroath skipper as Arbroath run away with League One!

29 starts, 7 substitute appearances - 0 goals

In total Mark has made an incredible 193 starts and 10 starts from the bench giving him an amazing tally of 203 appearances and scored 7 goals in 5 seasons with the Lichties.

Steven Doris

Arbroath FC are delighted to announce that 3 time league winner, striker Steven Doris has signed a contract extension to remain with Arbroath next season.

Steven, is the only player in our 141 year history to win 3 league medals with the club.

Steven has had a long history with Arbroath FC originally signing on loan from St Johnstone in November 2008 where he made 6 appearances and scored 2 goals.

Steven joined the Lichties permanently in June 2009 where he remained with the club until August 2012 in which time he played a pivotal part in winning the clubs very first league title in 2010/2011 as Arbroath won the 3rd Division.

The very next season Steven scored the goal at Parkhead which ensured a 1-1 draw with Champions at Celtic Park and enforced a replay at Gayfield. One of the club’s best results in recent times.

Steven left Gayfield for full time football at Dundee but returned on loan for 2 games in December 2013 but unfortunately picked up an injury but did score a goal on his 3rd Arbroath debut!

Steven was Dick Campbell’s first signing as he took over at Gayfield in the close season of 2016 and again Steven played a pivotal part in Arbroath winning Scottish League Two.

Steven started the 2017 / 2018 season in great form with battling displays in the pre-season fixtures and Betfred games where his skill and determination was frustrating the Premier League Defenders he was up against.

Just as the league season was getting under way Steven suffered a cruel injury to his cruciate ligament which cut his season short.

Steven went through a successful operation in Edinburgh and worked hard in his rehabilitation and we were all delighted to see Steven return to the Arbroath bench in October 2018 and then the moment we were all waiting for when Steven came on as a substitute and scored against Dumbarton after being out for 406 days.

Steven won his third Arbroath League Winner’s medal as he picked up the League One Winner’s medal in May.

We are delighted that Steven will be continuing his Arbroath career. A player who gives everything on the pitch for the club and a player the fans love to watch.

We look forward to seeing him go up against defenders in the Championship!

C’mon the Lichties!

Help paint the town Maroon (and white)

Wendy and Ralph are both members of the Arbroath Volunteer Group, Angus Clean Environments and on Wednesday afternoon the are painting 2 cycling millennium mileposts in Arbroath’s colours to celebrate our League One Title win.

The Millennium Mileposts were created Tt celebrate the National Cycle Network at the turn of the century, Sustrans Scotland commissioned four artists from the four countries of the United Kingdom to design cast iron ‘Millennium Mileposts’.

1,000 mileposts were created and installed across all the regions, stretching to all corners, some as far north as the Shetland Islands. You’ll find them in rural locations along our routes, at train stations and other key locations where the network runs through villages, towns and cities.

The first milepost is next to the Signal Tower Museum just yards from Gayfield and the other milepost is at the end Victoria Park where Kings Drive turns left and heads towards Seaton.

Any Lichties who would like to help should head down to the Signal Tower Museum for 12.15pm on Wednesday 22nd May.

"Sustrans is the charity making it easier for people to walk and cycle. We are engineers and educators, experts and advocates. We connect people and places, create liveable neighbourhoods, transform the school run and deliver a happier, healthier commute. Join us on our journey. www.sustrans.org.uk/"

James “Jim” Riddle

Everyone at Arbroath FC were very saddened to hear that former Lichtie James Riddle passed away on the 8th of May at Ninewells Hospital.

Our thoughts and condolences are with James’s family at this very sad time.

It has been a very sad few days for Arbroath FC with the passing of Tom Cargill who would have been a team mate of James during their time at Gayfield.

James, commonly known as Jim was signed in 1963 by legendary manager Albert Henderson and was at Gayfield until 1969. James also spent a season on loan at Brechin City in 1966.

James Captained the Arbroath FC reserve side that won the Reserve League in 1964 - A great achievement in our club's rich history!

The funeral service for James will take place at Parkgrove Crematorium, Friockheim on Wednesday 22nd May at 2.30pm to which all family and friends are respectfully invited.

Our thoughts are with James’ wife, Marion and his children Anne, Lorna and Iain. James was also a father-in-law to Dennis and Kate and a very proud granddad of Callum and Hannah.

The thoughts of everyone at Arbroath FC and everyone associated with our club reach out to James’ family and friends.

The flag at Gayfield will be at half-mast on Wednesday as mark of respect for James

Rest in Peace James

A Lichtie Wedding!

Arbroath FC would like to wish Emma-Louise Smith and Andrew Wilbourn all the very best and the happiest of wedding days as they tie the knot this afternoon.

Emma-Louise and Andrew are both long term season ticket holders and follow the Lichties near and far.

Of course as true supporters they had to wait for the season to finish so they could squeeze in the wedding and the honeymoon before our pre-season friendlies begin!

May the love you share today grow stronger as you grow old together and here is to many more season tickets together!

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something.........maroon!

All the best!

Darren Jamieson

Arbroath FC are delighted to announce that Goalkeeper Darren Jamieson has signed an extension to his contract keeping him at Gayfield for another season.

Darren signed for the club in May 2018 after spending two seasons with Hamilton Academical and made his competitive debut against Dundee Utd at Tannadice in the Betfred Cup.

DJ made an instant impact as he saved a penalty from Logan Chalmers in the penalty shoot out securing the extra point for the Lichties!

Darren went on to make 35 league appearances, securing 10 clean sheets and being a pivotal part in our defence which had the best defence in the league conceding only 38 goals.

In addition to that Darren also made 3 appearances in the Betfred Cup, where he also kept one clean sheet and a further appearance in the Scottish Cup.

It has been a dream debut season for Darren as he has become a fan favourite with his stunning saves and often making the day of the young supporters by passing on his goalie gloves after matches.

Of course the perfect end to the season was the Ladbrokes League One Medal that DJ won with Arbroath!

We are absolutely delighted DJ will be at Gayfield next season as we enter the Championship!

C’mon the Lichties!

Neil meets the League One trophy

This afternoon we made the short trip up to Dundee to see our friend and videographer Neil Douglas.

Neil’s wife Natasha had told Neil that myself and Louise Walker, Arbroath Operation and Kit Manager were coming up but Neil didn’t know that Arbroath Captain Mark Whatley was also coming along with the Ladbrokes League One Trophy!

Neil was definitely in shock as Mark walked into view with the League One Trophy and Neil was desperate to get his hands on the trophy!

It will be 9 weeks on Saturday since Neil suffered a stroke at Gayfield but in that time Neil has shown great fight and determination in his recovery.

Neil walked through to the lounge with his walking stick under the supervision of a nurse before we sat down and caught up.

Neil was on top form cracking jokes and keeping us all on our toes as we talked about the end of the season, winning the league and life in the Championship next season.

I got one of my photographs printed and got all of the lads to sign it as a small memento for Neil as he couldn’t be at Brechin when we clinched the league.

Neil also got his hands on the The John Christison Community Services Trophy that he was awarded for volunteering his time and services to the club and community.

Neil is still going doing lots of physio and is now onto stair exercises as Natasha will get to welcome him home for weekend visits very soon.

I know Neil will be reading this and so can I please ask you to leave some comments below for Neil to get him to keep that determination up!

It was so good seeing you today! Everyone at the club has been asking for you as has so many other people from other clubs have also sent on their well wishes!

Neil has promised he will be in the stands in the opening day of the season and we are holding you to that!

Keep fighting Neil!

Neil's gofundme is still going and can be found here;

Arbroath FC - Lifting the Trophy - Album 1

As the players were presented with their Ladbrokes League One Title winning medals they all made their way to the podium.

With Arbroath Captain Mark Whatley the final player to be called out, as he approached the stage and with the anticipation building the Lichties finally got their hands on the Ladbrokes League One Trophy and the party finally got underway!

A truly wonderful day from everyone associated with Arbroath FC!

David Gold

Always believe in……

Arbroath FC are delighted to announce that our versatile and skilful midfielder David Gold has signed an extension to his contract keeping him at Gayfield for another season.

David, who came through the youth ranks at Hibernian signed for the Lichties on 11th June 2015 and has been a favourite with the fans ever since.

David goes into his 5th season with the Lichties having won a Ladbrokes League One winners medal this season adding to the Ladbrokes League Two medal won in 2016/2017.

Away from Gayfield, David runs his successful Gold & Gray Soccer Academy formed with friend Ross Gray.

David has also played his part in the local Arbroath community bringing the Gold and Gray Soccer Camps to Gayfield and we hope they will return in the new season.

David scored his first competitive goal against Hearts in only his second appearance for the Lichties in the Scottish League Cup and has went on to make 112 competitive starting appearances with another 32 from the bench leaving David just 6 games shy of 150 competitive games for the Lichties.

In fact this season David has made his most ever starts for the club starting 33 games, beating the 32 starts in he made in our League Two winning season by 1!

David staying at Gayfield for another season keeps the excellent team continuity which has been pivotal in our success over the last 3 seasons.

Enjoy your summer David! See you in the Championship!

C’mon the Lichties!

Arbroath FC Kit Auction

We all have a favourite player! Do you have a favourite kit number too?

Was it the #8 home shirt of Michael McKenna?

Perhaps it was Captain Mark Whatley in his #6 Shirt?

Maybe the #4 shirt of Ricky Little?

Could it be Bobby Linn #11

Or maybe the safe hands of Darren Jamieson as our #1

Shirt Numbers (and players who wore them most this season)

1 - Darren Jamieson
2 - Jason Thomson
3 - Colin Hamilton
4 - Ricky Little
5 - Thomas O'Brien
6 - Mark Whatley
7 - Omar Kader/ David Gold/ Danny Denholm / Michael McKenna
8 - Michael McKenna
9 - Ryan Wallace
10 - Gavin Swankie
11 - Bobby Linn

12
14
15 - Ryan McCord
16 - Steven Doris
17
18
21 - Darren Hill

Which Kit and Number you Want - i.e. Away Number 9

Name -

Opening Bid -

Maximum Bid -
