Arbroath Football Club - Official added 47 new photos — with Carnoustie Panmure Walking Football and Arbroath Walking Football at Gayfield Park.

Slightly Older Matchday Experience

There was a rematch at Gayfield yesterday as we welcomed back
@arbroathwalkingfitba and @panmurewalkingfootball who took on each other at half time on the Gayfield pitch.

We invite all local football clubs to Gayfield to take part in your Matchday experience. We have welcomed a real diverse of teams to Gayfield and that is the beauty of it.

The gentleman yesterday watched the game from the stands before getting changed to come out and show off their skills at half time, although we let them off without doing a lap of honour!

It was great to see both sides back at Gayfield and we hope the gents all enjoyed their day.

Walking Football is a fantastic way to keep fit and make new friends as it combines both sport and a social connection.

There are many clubs all over the UK and if you would like to take part please get in touch and we shall try and put you in touch with a club.

Thank you again to all the Gentleman who took part and for the fans who were cheering them on!

We hope to see you all back at Gayfield very soon.

Yes it was only 2-1 but Arbroath dominated the second half, played some nice football and were deserved winners. This wasn’t the best E Fife performance maybe because of the backlog of fixtures they’ve recently fulfilled but the distorted accounts by a disappointed manger is tedious and misleading. Give credit to Dick Campbell - he’s given full credit to the opposition in the last two games we’ve lost.

Craig Watson

Everyone at Arbroath FC would like to send their best wishes to for former Lichtie Craig Watson who was forced off early in the first half today with what looks like a serious knee injury.

We are absolutely shocked and saddened to hear that one or two individuals of our own support in the main stand were disrespectful to Craig and the East Fife staff as he received treatment.

Arbroath Chairman Mike Caird said;

“I am really upset and angry to hear that Craig Watson suffered disrespect and abuse by certain individuals in the main stand.

We are a community club and whilst there is a competitive nature in football, the health and well being of all players on that pitch is fundamental.

Craig is a great lad, a good friend of the club and was outstanding for us at his time at Gayfield.

We send our thoughts to Craig and wish him a speedy recovery.”

I was sitting in the main stand and heard three old boys making immature and disrespectful comments to Craig. Totally out of order as it was clear the player had indicated he had a serious injury. Not the first time I've heard this type of nonsense at Gayfield. They should be ashamed of themselves.

It’s constant every game , I made mistake of sitting beside them, just before this incident one was telling a young east fife sub he wants to give it up if he can’t get a game for them, lad looked about 18 , to be on the bench for a league one team at that age quite an achievement in my opinion, there’s banter and there’s spiteful abuse One giving abuse to Watson had no remorse when I told him to get a grip Absolute embarrassment

It was older men who are well known in the town. They appear to be the type of individuals who no doubt demand respect from the younger generation. Well, respect must be deserved and abuse of players does warrant this respect I'm afraid!!!

ICYMI - Arbroath FC Golf Day – Friday 7th June 2019

Arbroath FC are delighted to announce that we will hold our annual Golf Day on Friday 7th June 2019 with a 1pm Shotgun start at Arbroath Golf Club.

The cost will be £200 per team for Teams of 4 people which includes a Buffet meal and the competition will be played as a Texas Scramble.

We already have a few teams signed up and you could be playing against some Arbroath FC players!

This is sure to be a great day out for all golfers and supporters of Arbroath FC, but even those who play the occasional round this could be for you!

Texas Scramble is a team competition.

In the purest, simplest form of Texas Scramble all members of the team tee off. Then one of these drives is chosen to be used for the next shot and all members of the team place their balls where the chosen drive ended up, and all the team play a second shot from this spot.

From these second shots, one is chosen and all play a third shot for there – and so on until the ball is holed.
Each team returns one score for each hole and the team with the lowest score for the round wins.

If you would like to enter please get in touch by contacting;

Arbroath vs East Fife - Match Preview

Match Day 29 - Ladbrokes League One - Season 2018 / 2019

Saturday 16th March 2019, Gayfield Park, Arbroath, 3.00pm kick off

Arbroath welcome Darren Young’s East Fife to Gayfield tomorrow for our 29th league game of the season.

The two sides just met only 2.5 weeks ago at Methil in a 1-1 draw with Darren Jamieson also saving a late penalty.

East Fife have been playing midweeks games for the last 3 Tuesdays after their excellent cup run(s) meant some league games were postponed.

The Lichties will have to be focused and switched on until the final whistle as East Fife have become masters of the late goal.

The Fifers scored in the 92nd minute against Stenhousemuir to secure a draw and also netted in the 89th and 93rd minute against Stranraer to make it 2-1 and then 3-1 to secure the points.

Arbroath will be given a huge boost with the return of Michael McKenna from his one match suspension as injuries also start to clear with Manager Dick Campbell hoping to have a full squad at his disposal.

There are 8 huge games remaining and we would love to have a loud vocal support getting right behind the team tomorrow.

Show Racism the Red Card

Pupils from Timmergreens Primary and Lady Loan Primary attended Arbroath FC on Wednesday 13th March for a day of Show Racism the Red Card Scotland activities. This is the first time the charity has visited Arbroath for an educational event with primary pupils.

The day was designed to promote messages of equality and respect, allowing the young people to explore their views and knowledge about racism in a safe environment.

The young people took part in workshops in the morning exploring the meaning of racism and the consequences of stereotyping. They also discussed acceptable and unacceptable language, and learned about a refugees story. This was followed by a tour of Arbroath FC, the young people even got to enjoy a kick about on the pitch!

During the afternoon session the pupils were joined by Club Chairman Mike Caird and goal keeping coach Robert Douglas who made up the panel for a Q and A session along with Derek Ferguson from SRtRC.

The pupils had the opportunity to act as media journalists as part of a role play activity and posed some tough questions to the panel who were able to reiterate positive messages of equality and respect.

Jordan Allison Campaign Manager, Show Racism the Red Card, said:
“The dangers of racism are significant and education is vital in order that young people can recognise these and other forms of discrimination and be equipped to safely challenge them as they grow and develop.

“Schools in the area are very keen to engage with the campaign and the young people we have worked with are very positive about it.

“Arbroath FC are strong supporters of the campaign and it is great to be able to bring local pupils along to their local club to learn about anti-racism with strong role models.”

Arbroath Chairman, Mike Caird, said:

"Arbroath FC is a community club and we were delighted to welcome local pupils from Timmergreens Primary and Lady Loan Primary to Gayfield on Wednesday to a special educational event by Show Racism the Red Card Scotland.

This is a campaign that Arbroath FC firmly support and we believe it is vitally important that the children learn about anti-racism, equality and respect from strong role models in their growth and development whilst at school."

Arbroath FC would like to thank Show Racism the Red Card Scotland for putting on this brilliant event and both Timmergreens Primary School and Ladyloan Primary School for attending.
