Early on in the game, Cargill ran on to a through ball from Lee. But his shot was straight at Hinchcliffe. In twenty nine minutes, Arbroath took the lead after Reynolds had two shots blocked. The second one rebounded To Crawford who let fly from the edge of the area. His shot hit the underside of the bar and MCAULAY followed up to head the loose ball goalwards. Despite Donegan’s efforts to keep the ball out, the linesman ruled that it had crossed the line.

Arbroath did not have long to enjoy their lead as the visitors equalised just six minutes later. Glennie’s cross into the area caused Arbroath all sorts of problems and CARGILL headed home from all of two yards out. Forfar added to their tally to take the lead, five minutes before the interval. A free kick from Lee was headed down by Mann and HONEYMAN blasted the ball home from close range.

In fifty nine minutes, Forfar went on to make it three. Cargill was again involved when he picked our Morgan with a pass and his low ball was laid off by Honeyman. ROBERTS latched on to the ball and blasted a shot into the top corner of Hinchliffe’s goal.

Arbroath pulled one back in seventy two minutes. McWalter beat two defenders and passed to GRANT who slipped the ball past Donegan in the Forfar goal. Arbroath held the initiative and with six minutes left on the clock, they pulled back level again. Substitute Florence flighted in a free kick and GLENNIE attempted to head clear but only succeeded in heading into his own net.
