New Signing – Jason Thomson
Arbroath Football Club are thrilled to announce the signing of defender Jason Thomson.
Jason (30) moves to Gayfield after a 6 year spell with Raith Rovers where he played 272 games and scored 10 goals. Jason was incredibly popular at Stark’s Park with one of his biggest achievements as he captained Raith to victory over Rangers in the Ramsdens Cup Final.
Jason also hit an incredible milestone as he became 35th in the all time list of Raith Rovers appearances.
Arbroath supporters will be fully aware of Jason as he scored in both our games at Stark’s Park earlier season against us. Predominantly Jason is a right back, but has shown versatility in his career when called up playing at centre back and on the rare occasion, as a left back.
Jason started his career with Loanhead Boys Club before sealing a move to the team he supported as a boy, Heart of Midlothian. Whilst at Tynecastle Jason had loan spells with Livingston, Dunfermline Athletic and Raith Rovers before making the move to Stark’s Park permanent in 2012.
The signing of Jason show’s the clubs ambitions for the new season ahead. Jason was offered terms to remain full time at Raith Rovers but has wished to make the move to part-time football as he thinks about his long term future.
There were a number of clubs after Jason’s signature but we are delighted he has chosen Gayfield as his new home.
We know that Jason’s skill, ability and experience will delight the Lichtie supporters and we can’t wait to see him in action.
Welcome to the club!
