Montrose 0 – 4 Arbroath

The Lichties got off to a dream start on Saturday at Links Park with a 4-0 win over local rivals Montrose.

A great first half strike by Ryan Wallace gave the Lichties the lead in the 22nd minute in a first half that the Lichties dominated with keeper Darren Jamieson a spectator for the most part, although a stubborn Montrose defence meant Arbroath struggled to create clear openings.

Montrose did come out stronger in the second half but the Arbroath back three of Little, O’Brien and Hamilton were again resilient and determined.

Finn Graham replaced David Gold in the 63rd minute and 4 minutes later he won a penalty after being fouled by Seán Dillon.

Bobby Linn made no mistake from 12 yards and doubled Arbroath’s lead in the 69th minute.

However Bobby wasn’t finished and scored a fantastic goal in the 83rd minute to put the game beyond doubt.

As the game ran into injury time substitute Kane Hester again had another instinctive interception and kept his cool to beat Allan Fleming from 10 yards to make it 4-0.

Arbroath manager Dick Campbell had praise for everyone of his players and was delighted to have kept a clean sheet.

Very hard decision for a Man of the Match as so many players gave it everything today, but perhaps jointly awarded to Bobby and Gavin Swankie. Swankie showing his experience today and covered so much ground covering back and moving play forward.

Who was your Man of the Match?

Thanks again to the huge support who followed and supported the team.
